Conquip Circular Muck Skip

Traditional craneable muck skip with self-tipping bale arm and twin safety catches

The Conquip Circular Muck Skip is a traditional craneable skip for general muck and waste removal. Two safety catches prevent accidental tipping during lifting; once disengaged by hand, the skip self-tips when lifted thanks to the bale arm geometry, allowing automatic discharge without an operative needing to be in the danger zone.

Twin safety catches

Self-tipping bale arm | UK manufactured | Available 100 to 1000 litres

WLL = Working Load Limit. The Circular Muck Skip is round, so width is the diameter and length is the same as width.

Key Features

  • Two safety catches prevent accidental tipping during lifting and transport.
  • Self-tipping bale arm: once catches are released, the skip empties automatically when lifted.
  • Robust circular design with no internal corners that can trap material.
  • Available in five capacities from 100 to 1000 litres.
  • Lightweight smaller sizes suit fit-out and refurbishment work.
  • Larger sizes handle general site clearance and muck-away.

Suitable Applications

The Circular Muck Skip is the traditional choice for general waste, muck and rubble removal across construction, fit-out and refurbishment sites. Smaller 100 and 250 litre skips suit interior strip-out and finishing work where access is limited. The 500, 750 and 1000 litre sizes cover wider site clearance, muck-away from groundworks, and general waste removal between levels by crane.

How to Use

  1. Position the skip on a stable, level surface with the safety catches engaged.
  2. Load evenly within the published capacity and WLL.
  3. Manually disengage both safety catches when ready to lift and tip.
  4. Attach the crane hook to the bale arm lifting point.
  5. The slinger and banksman confirm the lift and guide it to the discharge area.
  6. Once positioned over the discharge zone clear of personnel, the skip self-tips as the bale arm pivots through its centre of gravity.
  7. Return the skip to the loading area and re-engage both safety catches before refilling.

Warning: Always re-engage both safety catches between lifts to prevent accidental tipping. Do not lift over personnel. Never exceed the published WLL or capacity for the size in use.

Safety Information

  • Inspect the skip body, bale arm, lifting point, safety catches and shackles before each lift.
  • The crane operator, slinger and banksman must hold appropriate certification.
  • Always re-engage both safety catches between lifts.
  • Keep ground personnel clear of the discharge zone during emptying.
  • Do not exceed the published WLL or capacity for the size in use.
  • The skip self-tips by design once catches are released — confirm the discharge area is clear before lifting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the self-tipping mechanism work?

Once both safety catches are manually disengaged, the bale arm geometry causes the skip to pivot and self-tip when lifted by the crane. The centre of gravity moves outside the lift point and the skip rotates to discharge.

Q: Can I tip part loads?

The Circular Muck Skip self-tips fully each time it is lifted with the catches released. For applications where part loads need to be lifted and tipped, the Boat Skip or Heavy-Duty Boat Skip range with dog-bone or hook-and-latch release is more suitable.

Q: What size should I choose?

The 100 and 250 litre sizes are well-suited to interior strip-out and finishing trades. The 500, 750 and 1000 litre sizes cover general site clearance and muck-away work where larger crane access is available.

Q: Do I need a slinger and banksman?

Yes. Both are required to check the lift and guide it to the discharge area, in line with standard lifting operation procedures.
