Pfaff-Silberblau HV Manual Hydraulic Hand Stacker

1,000 kg Capacity | 900 mm or 1,600 mm Lift Heights | Integrated Park Brake | CE Marked

The Pfaff-Silberblau HV is a manual hydraulic hand stacker that bridges the gap between a hand pallet truck and a counterbalance forklift, pairing a 1,000 kg capacity with mast-based lift to 900 mm or 1,600 mm depending on variant. The operator pumps a hand lever to raise the load progressively, making it ideal for stacking pallets onto racking, loading workbenches or lifting onto vehicle tail-lifts. A factory-integrated parking brake is standard; engineered and manufactured by Pfaff-Silberblau (Columbus McKinnon Group).

Key Features

  • Three configurations โ€” HV 1008 PUR lifts to 900 mm with 179 kg capacity at full lift; HV 1016 PUR lifts to 1,600 mm with 205 kg at full lift; HV 1016 Nylon offers the higher 1,600 mm lift with Nylon load rollers for floor types that mark with PUR.
  • Integrated parking brake as standard โ€” unlike the pallet truck range where the brake is an optional extra, the HV stacker comes with a factory-fitted parking brake. Necessary equipment for any stacker because the raised load creates instability if the truck rolls.
  • Hand-pumped hydraulic mast โ€” no electrical supply required. The operator works a hand lever to drive the lift cylinder.
  • 1,122 mm fork length โ€” suits standard UK pallets (1,000 ร— 1,200 mm) and Euro pallets (800 ร— 1,200 mm) entered from the long side. The 90 mm lowered fork height clears all EN 13698-compliant pallets.
  • 570 mm outside fork width โ€” slightly wider than the standard pallet truck (540 mm) to provide additional lateral stability when lifting loads to height.
  • Robust mast and chassis construction โ€” the mast guide system uses hardened steel rails with low-friction nylon guides. The chassis is powder-coated steel.
  • Choice of PUR or Nylon load rollers โ€” PUR for warehouse epoxy and standard concrete; Nylon for floors that scuff or mark with polyurethane (some food-grade and cleanroom floor coatings).

More About This Product

The Pfaff-Silberblau HV is a manual hydraulic hand stacker designed to bridge the gap between a hand pallet truck (which lifts only enough to clear the floor) and a counterbalance forklift. It combines a 1,000 kg lift capacity with mast-based lift to either 900 mm or 1,600 mm working height, depending on the variant chosen. The truck is pumped by hand: the operator works a lever to drive the hydraulic ram, raising the load progressively. Where the scissor truck (HS 10B) lifts a pallet at floor level to an ergonomic working height, the HV is designed to stack pallets onto racking or low-height workstations โ€” loading workbenches, stacking goods two-high on shelving, or lifting onto vehicle tail-lifts. Standard equipment includes a factory-integrated parking brake. Engineered and manufactured by Pfaff-Silberblau (Columbus McKinnon Group).

Where Is the HV Stacker Used?

The HV stacker is the right tool for low-volume stacking operations โ€” lifting loads onto workbenches, double-stacking pallets on light-duty shelving, transferring pallets onto trailer tail-lifts, and loading workshop saw benches and assembly stations. It does not replace a counterbalance forklift for racking operations, but it covers the lower-height lifting that would otherwise require a forklift just to lift onto a 1.5 metre rack beam.

The 900 mm HV 1008 is sufficient for loading onto most workbenches and for double-stacking standard 1,000 mm pallets two-high. The 1,600 mm HV 1016 lifts onto the second beam level of standard pallet racking and onto raised goods-out staging platforms. Operations that occasionally need to lift higher than a pallet truck but don't justify the cost or operator training of a powered forklift specify the HV.

The reduced capacity at full lift (179 to 205 kg) reflects the practical reality that the mast and forks become unstable with heavy loads at height. Most workstation loading involves loads well below this figure โ€” tooling boxes, components, sub-assemblies, and parts pallets typically run 50 to 150 kg.

Recommended Pre-Use Checks

  1. Visually inspect the forks, mast, and frame for damage, cracks, or deformation.
  2. Check the mast guides and lift chains for free movement and signs of wear.
  3. Check the load rollers and steering rollers for free rotation.
  4. Test the lift function from fully lowered to fully raised, with the unladen forks.
  5. Test the lower function โ€” the truck should lower smoothly and controllably from any height.
  6. Test the parking brake โ€” it should engage and release positively.
  7. Confirm the hydraulic system holds pressure at the raised position for 30 seconds.
  8. Inspect for hydraulic oil leaks.
  9. Verify the data plate is legible.

Safety Information

  • Do not exceed the rated capacity at the working lift height. The 1,000 kg rating applies at the lowered position only; capacity decreases as the load is raised.
  • Do not use to lift personnel under any circumstances.
  • Distribute the load evenly across both forks. Off-centre loading on a raised stacker is the primary cause of tip-over.
  • Always engage the parking brake before lifting or lowering.
  • Do not move the truck under load with the forks fully raised. Lower the load completely before travelling any distance.
  • Stack only on stable, level surfaces. Do not stack on inclines or soft ground.
  • Inspect lifting chains at every annual examination โ€” chains stretched beyond manufacturer tolerance must be replaced.
  • Rated for ambient temperature -10ยฐC to +50ยฐC.
  • Inspect annually under PUWER 1998 and BGV D27. The mast assembly should receive particular attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the actual lift capacity? 1,000 kg or 179 kg?

Both, depending on the lift height. The 1,000 kg figure applies when the forks are at the lowered position (essentially the truck working as a pallet truck). The 179 kg (HV 1008) or 205 kg (HV 1016 PUR) figure applies at the full lift height. Capacity reduces progressively between these limits as the load is raised. The data plate on the truck shows the load chart. For most stacking applications โ€” lifting parts pallets onto workbenches or low racking โ€” the working load is well below the at-height limit.

Q: Which lift height should I choose?

Measure your typical destination height (workbench, racking beam, or tail-lift). Add 200 mm clearance for comfortable insertion. If under 700 mm, the HV 1008 (900 mm lift) is right. If between 700 mm and 1,400 mm, the HV 1016 (1,600 mm lift) is right. For higher than 1,400 mm working height, a powered stacker or counterbalance forklift is the correct equipment.

Q: PUR or Nylon load rollers?

PUR (polyurethane) is the default โ€” smooth, quiet, doesn't mark hard floors. Nylon is harder and louder but doesn't leave polyurethane scuff marks on certain food-grade and cleanroom floor coatings that react with PUR. If you have warehouse epoxy or standard concrete, choose PUR. If you have polished granolithic or food-grade urethane flooring that has shown PUR scuffs in the past, choose Nylon.

Q: Can I move the truck with the load raised?

No โ€” or only over very short distances at very slow speed. The raised load substantially raises the centre of gravity and travelling with the load up is the most common cause of stacker tip-overs. Standard practice is to lower the load completely before travelling more than a metre or two.

Q: Why is the parking brake standard on this model when it's optional on the pallet truck?

Because a stacker with a raised load is fundamentally less stable than a pallet truck. If a loaded stacker rolls while the load is being raised or lowered, the consequences are much worse than a pallet truck rolling on a flat floor. The parking brake is essential safety equipment for the stacker, so it's factory-fitted as standard rather than offered as an option.

Q: Is this an alternative to a forklift?

Only for low-height, low-frequency stacking. A counterbalance forklift handles loads up to several tonnes at racking heights, with operator visibility and speed that the HV cannot match. The HV is the right specification for occasional stacking where a forklift is overkill, where there isn't the access for a forklift, or where the cost and training overhead of forklift operation isn't justified.

Q: What about annual inspection?

PUWER 1998 annual examination. The mast and lifting chains require particular attention. Stretched or worn chains must be replaced before they fail in service. Most competent persons examine stackers in more detail than pallet trucks because the consequences of mast failure are more severe.
