Yale HPS Hydraulic Hand Pumps

For Single-Acting Cylinders | 700 bar | 0.3 to 10 Litre Reservoirs | Two-Stage with Automatic Switch-Over

The Yale HPS range comprises hydraulic hand pumps for single-acting cylinders at 700 bar maximum system pressure. Seven models cover reservoir volumes from 0.3 to 10 litres. All HPS pumps (except HPS-1/0.7 A) are two-stage designs with automatic switch-over from low pressure to high pressure stage, providing rapid no-load piston travel and high-force loaded operation.

All-steel hand pump construction designed for rough use

Yale documentation describes the HPS as an all-steel construction designed for rough use, with a high-efficiency pumping action. The handle can be locked for easy carrying. The large return valve allows the operator to precisely control the return stroke. Yale states the pumps are supplied ready to use including hydraulic oil filling.

Suitable Applications

Per Yale: the most common power source within Yale's high-pressure hydraulic tools range. Used with all Yale 700 bar single-acting cylinders. The selection chart matches HPS reservoir size to the connected cylinder's oil volume.

Key Features

  • Two-Stage Operation with Automatic Switch-Over: stage 1 for rapid no-load travel; stage 2 for high-force loaded operation (except HPS-1/0.7 A).
  • Robust All-Steel Construction: Yale notes plastic reservoirs filled with oil can represent fire danger near welding.
  • Fine Adjustable Relief Valve with Hand Wheel: millimeter-precise lifting and lowering.
  • Two Pressure Relief Valves: easily adjustable from outside.
  • Reservoir Ventilation Plug: ensures perfect suction and full reservoir oil capacity usage.
  • Carrying Handle: handle can be locked for easy carrying.
  • Tilted Tank: increases usable oil volume.
  • Additional Return Oil Port: for integration into complex hydraulic circuits.
  • 3/8 NPT Oil Port: Yale standard interface.
  • Excellent Suction Properties: Yale documents 100% volume suck/displace per stroke.
  • Supplied Ready to Use: includes hydraulic oil filling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the two-stage operation work?

Yale describes stage 1 as allowing rapid piston travel under no load or light load. The pump automatically switches to stage 2 when the piston is loaded and higher force is required. The switch-over is automatic - no operator intervention. HPS-1/0.7 A is the only single-stage model.

Q: Are the pumps supplied filled with oil?

Yes. Yale states the pumps are supplied ready to use including hydraulic oil filling.

Q: Are spare parts interchangeable across the range?

Yes. Yale states all hand pumps share the same design (build-up) with the exception of the reservoirs. One spare part kit services all hand pumps.

Q: Can a pressure gauge be added?

Yes. Yale offers the GYA-63 pressure gauge set suitable for all HPS hand pumps - a GGY-632 (0-1000 bar, 63 mm, glycerine-damped) with matching gauge adaptor.

Q: What's the difference between HPS and HPH?

HPS is for single-acting cylinders (single outlet port). HPH is for double-acting cylinders (two outlets via integrated 4/3-way directional valve).

Q: What hose connects to the pump?

Yale's HHC range covers connection from pump to cylinder. Standard hoses come with a CMY-1 male coupler. Lengths from 0.5 to 15 metres (HHC-5 to HHC-150).
