Yale PAY Mini Hydraulic Pumps (Air-Driven)

Compressed-Air Driven 700 bar | 1.5 or 5 L Reservoirs | 100% Explosion Protection

The Yale PAY range comprises compact compressed-air driven mini hydraulic pumps with 700 bar maximum operating pressure. Four models cover single-acting and double-acting applications with 1.5 or 5 litre reservoirs. The air-driven motor provides 100% explosion protection per Yale, making the PAY suitable for hazardous-area applications.

Compressed-air drive for explosion-proof environments

Yale states the PAY mini-pumps are driven by an air-powered motor and can be connected to any supply source of compressed air. These compact pumps operate all single-acting or double-acting hydraulic cylinders up to 700 bar. The air-driven motor guarantees 100% explosion protection. Use of an inline air filter-lubricator is recommended. Pumps for double-acting cylinders include a VHH-4/3 control valve with a universal pedal (hand or foot operated).

Suitable Applications

Per Yale: explosion-protected applications or where electrical supply is not available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is the air drive 100% explosion-proof?

Yale documents that air-driven motors have no electrical components that could generate sparks, making them inherently safe in explosive atmospheres. Suitable for petrochemical, mining, marine and similar hazardous areas.

Q: Is an air filter-lubricator required?

Yale recommends the use of an inline air filter-lubricator. The regulator on the lubricator unit provides infinite adjustment of hydraulic pressure.

Q: How does cylinder control work on double-acting models?

Yale's universal pedal control: pedal neutral - motor stands still, cylinder holds; pedal depressed - motor starts, cylinder advances; pedal pushed forward - motor stands still, pressure released, cylinder retracts.
