Yale YLS Low-Height Hydraulic Cylinders

Single-Acting with Spring Return | 10 - 100 Tonnes | 700 bar | Yale ChroMo-Design

The Yale YLS Low-Height range provides compact hydraulic cylinders with reduced collapsed height for applications in tight working areas. Capacities span 10 to 100 tonnes at 700 bar maximum operating pressure, with strokes from 35 to 60 mm. The cylinders share Yale's ChroMo-Design construction using chromium-molybdenum steel heat-treated bodies and pistons.

Designed for tight working areas

Yale documentation describes the YLS as recommended for lifting, pushing, levelling and pressing applications, particularly in tight working areas. The compact form is suited to lifting and positioning jobs and general maintenance work where low height, portability and light weight are needed. Yale lists applications including steel mills, civil engineering, heavy construction, power plants and off-shore industries.

Suitable Applications

Per Yale: steel mills, civil engineering, heavy construction, power plants, off-shore work. The short strokes (35 - 60 mm) suit lifting tasks where vertical travel requirements are limited but the YS series is too tall.

Key Features

  • Yale ChroMo-Design: chromium-molybdenum steel cylinder body and piston, heat treated.
  • 700 bar Maximum Operating Pressure: Yale standard.
  • Single-Acting with Spring Return: automatic retraction.
  • Low Collapsed Height: compact for tight working areas.
  • Stop Ring with Dirt Wiper: bears full capacity and protects against dirt.
  • 3/8 NPT Oil Port: Yale standard interface.
  • CFY-1 Female Coupler Half Included: ready to connect.
  • YLS-100/55 with Two Lifting Rings: Yale fits lifting rings on the 24 kg unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the YLS differ from the standard YS?

The YLS has a significantly reduced collapsed height for the same capacity range. The trade-off is shorter stroke - the YLS offers 35 to 60 mm versus up to 345 mm for the YS.

Q: Is the YLS-100/55 fitted with lifting rings?

Yes. Yale equips the YLS-100/55 with two lifting rings for handling the 24 kg unit.

Q: What pump matches the YLS range?

Yale's selection chart suggests HPS-1/0.7 A or HPS-2/0.7 A for the lighter YLS models, scaling up to HPS-2/2 A for the higher-capacity 50 - 100 tonne models.
