Model STW-FvB | Capacity 1,500 kg | Height 600 mm | Lift 300 mm | DIN 7355 | Shortened Design for Low Headroom | Siku or Raku Crank

The Pfaff-Silberblau STW-FvB is the short-design fixed-claw steel jack, certified to DIN 7355. Engineered for applications where low headroom is required, with overall height of just 600 mm (120 mm shorter than the standard STW-F 15). Ideal for low-ceiling workshops, basement plant rooms, and under-machine maintenance access. Same robust steel mechanism as the standard STW-F. Available in 1,500 kg capacity only with Siku or Raku crank.

CE & UKCA Marked | DIN 7355 Compliant | German Engineered

Pfaff-Silberblau is part of the Columbus McKinnon group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of motion technology and lifting equipment. This product is CE marked (EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) and UKCA marked (UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008), manufactured to DIN 7355 (Steel jacks acc. to DIN), and is supplied with a Declaration of Conformity. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations are required every 12 months by a competent person after initial certification.

Technical Specifications

Height of Lift = Height A + Lift = 900 mm. The short design saves 120 mm of overall height compared with standard STW-F 15. Available in 1,500 kg only. STW-FvB Sifeku available on request.

Key Features

  • Precisely machined gearbox: Optimal gear ratio ensures minimum operator effort and smooth operation.
  • Hardened gearing parts: Low wear and extended service life under demanding industrial conditions.
  • Load held in any position: Self-energising load brake generates axial pressure proportional to load weight, securely holding the load when the crank is released.
  • Robust steel construction: Steel design with toothed rack of solid material for industrial and outdoor use.
  • Load support on claw or head: No reduction of capacity when lifting on the claw, full WLL available at any rated position.
  • Shortened design for low headroom: Overall height 600 mm, 120 mm shorter than STW-F 15.
  • Lightest Pfaff steel jack at 11 kg: Easily portable, ideal for service vehicles.
  • Single 1,500 kg capacity: Matched to typical low-clearance maintenance applications.

Suitable Applications

Specialist short-design jack for low-clearance applications. Applications: low-ceiling workshops, basement plant rooms, vehicle inspection pits, under-machine maintenance access, mobile maintenance teams, mezzanine floor work.

How to Use the Pfaff-Silberblau STW-FvB Steel Jack with Fixed Claw, Short Design

  1. Confirm rated capacity: Verify the WLL stamped on the jack matches or exceeds the load weight.
  2. Position on a firm surface: Place the jack on level, firm ground capable of supporting the load.
  3. Position the load: Centre the load directly above the claw or head, ensuring vertical alignment. No side-loading.
  4. Engage the load: Slowly raise the claw or head until stable contact with the load.
  5. Lift using the crank: Apply steady, controlled rotation. The load brake holds position automatically when the crank is released.
  6. Lower the load: Reverse crank direction to lower at a controlled rate.

Warning: Available in 1,500 kg only. Do not exceed this WLL. For higher capacities in low clearance, consider parallel STW-FvB units or hydraulic low-profile alternatives.

Safety Information

  • Always inspect the jack before each use (base plate, rack, gear housing, crank).
  • Never exceed the Working Load Limit stamped on the jack body.
  • Use only the manufacturer-approved crank, never with extension bars or mechanical drives.
  • Never use on soft ground, ice, or unstable surfaces.
  • Never side-load, angle-load, or use the jack to lift persons.
  • For sustained load support, place additional supports beside the jack before any work beneath the load.
  • LOLER 1998 thorough examination required every 12 months where used as lifting equipment.
  • STW-FvB is available in 1,500 kg only, do not exceed this WLL.

Inspection and Maintenance

Same routine maintenance as the standard STW-F. Inspect rack, claw, and crank before each use. Lubricate annually. WOLFF Onsite provides LOLER inspection.

Optional Accessories

  • Pfaff Cranks: Replacement Siku, Raku, or Sifeku (on request).
  • LOLER inspection and overhaul: WOLFF Onsite service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why 1,500 kg only?

Short-design form factor limits the physical size of load-bearing components. Higher capacities require the full-height STW-F or SJ. For 3,000 kg+ in low-clearance, consider parallel STW-FvB units or a hydraulic low-profile jack.

Q: How much headroom does it save?

120 mm compared with the standard STW-F 15 (720 mm vs 600 mm). Lift travel slightly shorter (300 mm vs 350 mm).

Q: Same mechanism as STW-F?

Yes, gearbox, load brake, rack teeth, and crank engagement are mechanically identical. Replacement parts shared with STW-F 15.

Q: Is the STW-FvB worth the extra cost vs the standard STW-F 15?

The STW-FvB typically costs slightly more due to the specialist short-design tooling. The premium is justified where overall height clearance is critical, the shorter form factor often opens applications that would be impossible with the standard jack. If your application has sufficient clearance, the STW-F 15 is the more cost-effective choice.

Q: Can I use the STW-FvB for outdoor or marine applications?

Yes, the STW-FvB has the same hardened steel construction as the standard STW-F. For aggressive corrosion environments, specify zinc-plated cranks and consider periodic external corrosion treatment of the jack body.

Q: How often does the STW-FvB need LOLER inspection?

LOLER 1998 (UK) requires thorough examination every 12 months by a competent person. WOLFF Onsite provides full LOLER inspection for all Pfaff jacks including the short-design STW-FvB.
