Radios are indispensable tools for communication on construction sites, facilitating seamless coordination, collaboration, and safety among personnel spread across large or noisy work environments. Handsets are only part of it. Coverage across the site, how many separate channels are needed, who talks to whom, and how the equipment is charged and issued each morning all determine whether the system works in practice.
Where lifting operations are underway, keeping that traffic on its own channel is normal practice. Mixing it with general site chatter is how instructions get missed.
If parts of the site will not be covered — basements, cores, the far end of a large plot — a repeater solves it. A more powerful handset generally does not.
