Lifting-gear specialists in Sheffield & London — phone & email

The Camlok TKG VH crane fork is a manually balanced lifting attachment that allows pallets, crates, boxes and similar palletised goods to be lifted by overhead crane rather than forklift truck — ideal for sites where forklift access is impractical. The VH series uses a manually adjustable balance trolley to position the lifting eye over the load centre of gravity, with adjustable tine spacing accommodating standard and non-standard pallet widths. Available in four capacity ratings from 1000 kg up to 5000 kg WLL.

Key Features

  • Manually balanced design — an adjustable balance trolley positions the lifting eye over the load's centre of gravity — the operator sets the balance before lifting.
  • Adjustable tine spacing — fork tines slide laterally to accommodate standard EUR pallets, Australian pallets, and other non-standard pallet or crate widths.
  • Four capacity ratings — from TKG 1.0 VH (1000 kg) up to TKG 5.0 VH (5000 kg) WLL.
  • Crane attachment — integral lifting eye accepts a shackle and hook for direct crane connection.
  • Robust steel construction — designed for daily industrial use across construction, manufacturing, and warehousing applications.

Supplied with certification, identification, and operating instructions.

Product Overview

The Camlok TKG VH crane fork is a manually balanced lifting attachment that allows pallets, crates, boxes, and similar palletised goods to be lifted by overhead crane rather than forklift truck. Available in four capacity ratings from 1000 kg up to 5000 kg WLL, the VH series uses a manually adjustable balance trolley to position the lifting eye over the load centre of gravity — straightforward to set up and ideal for sites where forklift access is impractical. Adjustable tine spacing accommodates standard and non-standard pallet widths.

Suitable Applications

Lifting palletised goods, crates, and boxes by overhead crane in fabrication shops, warehouses, construction sites, ports and depots, and industrial facilities where forklift access is impractical or unavailable. Ideal for vertical-only lifts in confined spaces where a forklift cannot manoeuvre, for high-bay material placement, and for transferring palletised loads between floors or levels via crane.

How to Use Safely

  1. Inspect the crane fork before each use. Check the body, tines, balance trolley, locking mechanism, and lifting eye for damage, wear or corrosion. Do not use if defects are found.
  2. Verify the load weight does not exceed the rated WLL of the selected model.
  3. Adjust the tine spacing to match the pallet or crate width. Confirm the tines are locked in position before continuing.
  4. Engage the tines fully under the pallet, ensuring the load is fully seated against the fork back-stop.
  5. Position the balance trolley along the fork to align the lifting eye with the load's centre of gravity. Adjust manually until the load hangs level when test-lifted.
  6. Lock the balance trolley in position.
  7. Attach the crane hook (with shackle if required) to the lifting eye. Confirm hook safety latch is engaged.
  8. Test-lift to a low height and verify the load is balanced and stable. Adjust the balance trolley if any tilt is observed.
  9. Proceed with the lift, maintaining slow controlled motion. Do not allow the load to swing or rotate uncontrolled.
  10. After landing, fully relieve load on the tines before disengaging from the pallet.

Inspection and Maintenance

A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for detailed inspection and maintenance instructions, derating factors for use, and replacement schedules for any wearing components.

Warranty & Support

Supplied with manufacturer's certification, identification, and operating instructions. WOLFF Onsite offers post-sales support including spares, certified inspection, and replacement. Contact our team for advice on selection, sizing, and application-specific configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between the TKG VH and TKG VHS?

The VH (Manual Balance) requires the operator to adjust a balance trolley to position the lifting eye over the load's centre of gravity. The VHS (Self-Weight Balance) uses an automatic self-adjusting mechanism that finds the centre of gravity automatically as the load is applied. The VHS is faster to operate but more expensive; the VH is more economical and well-suited to repeated lifts of similar loads where balance is set once and retained.

Q: Can I use the TKG VH with any pallet size?

The adjustable tine spacing accommodates standard EUR pallets (1200 × 800 mm), Australian pallets (1165 × 1165 mm), and most non-standard pallet or crate widths within the rated tine adjustment range. Verify your specific pallet dimensions against the model's adjustment specification.

Q: Does the load need to be on a pallet?

The TKG VH is designed for palletised loads where the tines can be inserted under the load. It can also handle crates, boxes, or other loads with suitable underneath access for the tines, provided the load remains stable on the tines during lift.

Q: How often should the TKG VH be inspected?

A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months for crane forks in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept.
