Shock absorbing, restraint and adjustable lanyards in single and twin leg versions, with a range of connector options.
A shock-absorbing lanyard is designed to arrest a fall and limit the force transmitted to the body. A restraint lanyard is fixed length and prevents the user reaching a fall hazard at all — it has no energy absorption and is not intended for fall arrest.
Shock-absorbing lanyards need considerable clear space below the anchor once lanyard length, absorber deployment and harness stretch are allowed for. Check the manufacturer's figure for the specific product against the space you have — where clearance is tight, a self-retracting block is usually the better answer.
A twin-tail lanyard allows the user to stay attached while moving between anchor points. Where continuous attachment matters, this is worth specifying — with a single tail the user has to unclip to move.
A restraint lanyard is fixed length and stops the user reaching the hazard. It has no shock absorber. A fall arrest lanyard is designed to absorb energy if a fall occurs.
More than most people expect, once lanyard length, absorber deployment and harness stretch are included. Check the manufacturer's stated figure for the product.
It allows continuous attachment when moving between anchor points, so the user never has to unclip to move.
