Pfaff-Silberblau Hand Cranks for Steel and Rack & Pinion Jacks

Genuine Pfaff Cranks | Raku, Siku, Sifeku, Plug-In, Folding & Standard Types | For SJ, STW-F, STW-V, STW-FvB, ZWW-L, ZWW and HB-W Jacks | CE & UKCA Marked

Pfaff-Silberblau hand cranks are the genuine drive accessories for the Pfaff steel jack and rack & pinion jack ranges. Each jack model requires a specific crank type and size determined by the gearbox shaft dimensions, the recommended hand effort, and the target capacity. This product covers the full Pfaff crank catalogue spanning four crank designs: Raku (ratchet crank with directional reversal for confined spaces), Siku (standard 360ยฐ rotation crank), Sifeku (anti-slip safety crank with spring-loaded grip), and Plug-In/Folding/Standard types for ZWW-L wall-mounted jacks. The crank designation encodes specification, e.g. "14/250/U130" denotes 14 mm square shaft socket, 250 mm crank arm length, and U130 hub connection. Genuine Pfaff cranks are required to maintain the safety performance and warranty cover of the jack itself.

CE & UKCA Marked | Pfaff-Silberblau Genuine Accessory

Pfaff-Silberblau is part of the Columbus McKinnon group. This product is a genuine Pfaff accessory designed for use with the matching jack range, CE marked and UKCA marked, supplied with appropriate documentation. Use of non-genuine accessories may compromise jack performance and warranty cover.

Crank specifications follow Pfaff-Silberblau standard format. The first number (12, 14, 17) is the square socket dimension in mm, matching the jack gearbox shaft. The second number is the crank arm length in mm. Match the crank to your jack model carefully, contact us to confirm the correct article number for your specific jack.

Key Features

  • Raku ratchet crank: Standard crank type for confined spaces. Operates with directional reversal at the ratchet selector. Can also be used as full 360ยฐ crank.
  • Siku standard crank: Conventional 360ยฐ rotation crank. Lighter, lower cost than Raku. For applications with full rotation space.
  • Sifeku anti-slip safety crank: Spring-loaded retainer prevents crank disengagement during operation. Recommended for vertical lifting where crank loss under load could be hazardous.
  • Plug-In Crank (39102698): Universal detachable crank for the ZWW-L wall-mounted jack range. Quick-release engagement.
  • Folding handle cranks (ZWW-L): Compact storage for wall-mounted jacks installed in tight spaces.
  • Safety Clip (40051858): Universal retention clip fitting both 14 mm and 17 mm square sockets. Prevents accidental crank removal during operation.
  • Painted or zinc-plated finishes: Painted for indoor industrial use; zinc-plated for outdoor, marine, and aggressive environments.

Suitable Applications

Pfaff cranks are used wherever a Pfaff steel jack, rack & pinion jack, or wall-mounted jack is in service. Typical environments: industrial maintenance and repair workshops, vehicle and machinery installation, shipbuilding and dry docks, construction, agriculture, rail maintenance, sluice gate operation, and warehouse handling. Match the crank type, square socket dimension, and arm length to the jack's specification.

How to Use the Pfaff-Silberblau Hand Cranks for Steel and Rack & Pinion Jacks

  1. Identify your jack model: Locate the model and capacity on the data plate (e.g. SJ 30, STW-F 50, ZWW-L 600/800).
  2. Match the gearbox shaft size: Pfaff jack shafts are 12, 14, or 17 mm square. Match the crank socket accordingly.
  3. Select the crank type: Raku for confined spaces; Siku for 360ยฐ use; Sifeku for anti-slip safety; folding/Plug-In/standard for ZWW-L.
  4. Engage the crank socket: Push fully onto the gearbox shaft. With Sifeku cranks, the spring-loaded retainer clicks home.
  5. Fit a Safety Clip if appropriate: Universal 14/17 mm retainer (40051858) prevents accidental crank removal under load.
  6. Operate the jack: Steady, controlled rotation. Hand effort varies by jack: typically 28 daN for 1.5 to 5 t jacks, 40 daN for 10 t.

Warning: Always use the correct crank for your jack. Using an incorrectly sized crank may damage the gearbox, slip under load, or fail to engage the load brake. Never use mechanical drives or extension bars on a manual jack crank.

Safety Information

  • Match the crank specification to the jack model. Incorrect cranks can cause damage or unsafe operation.
  • Inspect crank socket and shaft engagement before each use.
  • Use the Safety Clip where appropriate for vertical lifting applications.
  • Never use mechanical or motorised drives on a manual jack crank.
  • Never extend the crank arm with bars or pipes.
  • Sifeku cranks must engage their spring-loaded retainer fully before operation.
  • Replace any crank with damaged socket, bent arm, or worn ratchet mechanism.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect socket, arm, and ratchet mechanism before each use. Keep the socket clean. Lubricate the ratchet mechanism (Raku) annually with light machine oil. Replace any crank showing socket wear, bent arm, or ratchet failure. WOLFF Onsite supplies all Pfaff genuine cranks.

Optional Accessories

  • Safety Clip (40051858): Universal retention clip fitting both 14 and 17 mm sockets.
  • Matching jack range: See our Pfaff SJ, STW-F, STW-V, STW-FvB, SCH-W, ZWW-L, and ZWW products.
  • Replacement cranks: All Pfaff cranks available as direct replacements for original equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know which crank fits my jack?

The crank must match on three dimensions: square socket size (12, 14, or 17 mm), crank arm length (sets mechanical advantage and hand effort), and crank type (Raku, Siku, Sifeku, Folding, Standard, Plug-In). Tell our team your jack model and we'll specify the article number.

Q: What's the difference between Raku, Siku, and Sifeku?

Raku is a ratchet crank for confined spaces, allowing directional reversal at the selector. Siku is standard 360ยฐ rotation, simpler and lighter. Sifeku is an anti-slip safety crank with a spring-loaded retainer that locks onto the gearbox shaft to prevent disengagement during operation, safest for vertical lifting.

Q: Can I use a longer crank for more leverage?

No. Pfaff cranks are sized to match the gearbox ratio of each jack to deliver the rated hand effort at the rated WLL. A longer crank applies higher torque than designed, which can damage the gearing and compromise the load brake.

Q: What does the Safety Clip do?

Universal retainer fitting both 14 and 17 mm sockets, prevents the crank from accidentally lifting off the gearbox shaft. Strongly recommended for vertical lifting where crank disengagement under load could drop the load. Sifeku cranks have built-in retention and don't need an additional Safety Clip.

Q: Is the Plug-In Crank (39102698) compatible with steel jacks?

The Plug-In Crank is primarily designed for the ZWW-L wall-mounted jack range. It can be used with steel jacks where the socket size and arm length match, but is less common in steel jack applications. Contact us if you need cross-compatibility advice.

Q: Painted or zinc-plated finish, which should I choose?

Painted cranks (typically yellow Pfaff factory finish) are intended for indoor industrial use. Zinc-plated cranks have enhanced corrosion protection for outdoor, marine, agricultural, and aggressive industrial environments. The mechanical specification is identical, only the surface finish differs.

Q: How often does a crank need replacing?

Pfaff cranks have a long service life under normal use. Replace if you observe socket wear (loose fit on the shaft), bent or damaged arm, failed ratchet mechanism (Raku), or compromised spring-loaded retainer (Sifeku). Cranks are inspected as part of the LOLER thorough examination of the jack itself.
