Yale LX-6 Complete Heavy Load Moving System, 6t Capacity

Model LX-6 | Three-Point Steerable System | 6t (6000kg) Capacity | 115mm Low Profile | 85ร—90mm Nylon Wheels

The Yale LX-6 is the 6t complete heavy load moving system from the Yale LX range โ€” the manufacturer's cost-effective alternative to the premium Steerman SX/S range. The three-point system pairs a steerable front skate with towing bar and two adjustable rear skates joined by two adjustable tie rods, with front and rear sections each taking approximately 50% of capacity (around 3000kg each). At just 115mm system height it suits restricted clearance, running on hardwearing 85ร—90mm nylon wheels for smooth, finished, flat and even floors โ€” it will not pull on rough uneven floor.

Key Features

  • Cost-effective alternative to Steerman SX/S โ€” the manufacturer positions LX as the lower-cost option for routine industrial moves up to 6t
  • Three-point loading system โ€” steerable front with towing bar plus pair of adjustable rear skates
  • Adjustable rear tie rods โ€” rear skates connected by two adjustable tie rods, range 500โ€“1400 mm, accommodating a wide variety of load widths
  • Low-profile 115mm overall height โ€” fits under loads with limited ground clearance
  • Hardwearing nylon wheels โ€” 85ร—90mm, suited to smooth finished flat floors; protect finished floor surfaces
  • 50/50 load distribution โ€” front and rear sections each take approximately half the total system capacity
  • Supplied ready-to-use โ€” towing bar and tie rods included; no assembly required
  • Anti-slip rubber surfaces โ€” load contact surfaces lined to prevent slip

This product is manufactured to European standards by Yale Industrial Products, part of the Columbus McKinnon group. All units are supplied with a CE Declaration of Conformity. Load moving skates are classed as work equipment under PUWER 1998. Regular visual inspection is required before every use, with periodic thorough examination by a competent person in line with site safety policy and any applicable insurance requirements.

More About This Product

The Yale LX-6 is the 6t complete heavy load moving system from the Yale LX range โ€” the manufacturer's cost-effective alternative to the premium Steerman SX/S range. The LX-6 is a three-point loading system comprising a steerable front skate with towing bar and a pair of adjustable rear skates joined by two adjustable tie rods. The front and rear sections each take approximately 50% of the total capacity (around 3000kg each). Total system height is just 115mm โ€” the appropriate choice where load clearance is restricted. Runs on hardwearing nylon wheels (85ร—90mm) suited to smooth, finished, flat and even floors. The LX system is designed for in-plant industrial moves; it will not pull on rough finished uneven floor.

Suitable Applications

The LX-6 suits in-plant industrial moves where load clearance is restricted โ€” moving CNC machine bases, low-mounted plant, transformer assemblies, generator sets and any application where a taller skate platform won't fit underneath. The 50/50 load distribution and adjustable rear tie rod make the LX-6 flexible across a wide variety of load shapes. For applications with normal clearance, the Steerman SX/S range is the premium choice.
The LX is designed for smooth finished flat even floors only โ€” it will not pull on rough finished uneven floor.

How to Use the LX-6 System

  1. Survey the route โ€” confirm the floor is smooth, finished, flat and even. Rough or uneven floors are not suitable for the LX.
  2. Confirm the load has at least 115mm clearance for the skate platform to fit underneath.
  3. Adjust the rear tie rod to match the load width (within the 500โ€“1400 mm range).
  4. Position the rear pair under the rear of the load using rated jacking equipment.
  5. Position the front skate under the front of the load, centred on the front load area.
  6. Lower the load fully onto both sections and confirm stable contact.
  7. Attach the towing bar to the steerable front skate.
  8. Move the load slowly using the towing bar.

Warning:
Do not exceed the 6t rated capacity. Do not attempt to use on rough or uneven floors โ€” the LX will not pull on such surfaces.

Safety Information

  • Confirm the load is within the 6t rated system capacity.
  • Confirm the tie rod adjustment is correct for the load width and locked in place.
  • Inspect the front and rear skates before each use for wheel damage, bearing free movement and frame integrity.
  • Use the towing bar to pull rather than push wherever practical.
  • Keep all personnel clear of the rolling path.
  • Refer to the operating manual for full pre-use checks.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect weekly with attention to wheel nylon condition, bearing free movement, steering swivel on the front skate, towing bar attachment, the rear tie rods and frame weld integrity. Replace worn wheels using genuine Yale LX spare wheels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the LX compare to the Steerman SX/S range?

The manufacturer positions Yale LX as the cost-effective alternative to the premium Steerman SX/S range. LX has lower-profile 115mm overall height, simpler nylon wheel construction (vs SX/S polyamide twin-roller groups), and adjustable rear tie rods. Choose LX for cost-effective in-plant moves up to 12t. Choose SX/S for higher capacities (up to 60t and beyond), heavier-duty construction and the ability to handle slightly uneven floors via universal joint roller suspension.

Q: What surface does the LX work on?

The LX is designed for smooth finished flat even floors only. It will not pull on rough finished uneven floors. For yard or unfinished concrete work, the Steerman SCS Caterpillar Skate range is the appropriate choice.

Q: How wide a load can the LX-6 accommodate?

The rear tie rods adjust from 500 to 1400 mm, accommodating a wide variety of load widths. The front load area is 185 ร— 150 mm, accommodating typical machine bases.
