The Yale RLSP is a universal load binder for restraining and securing loads during transport. Operating the binder lever extends or retracts the threaded spindles, with tension upheld by the self-locking thread design. Three sizes span 4000 to 10600 daN lashing capacity (LC), each in two end-fitting configurations — HH with shortening hooks for direct chain attachment, or ÖÖ with clevis ends for existing fastening devices. Note: RLSP binders are for load restraint during transport — they are not lifting equipment.

Key Features

  • 4000–10600 daN lashing capacity — Three sizes for light commercial to heavy transport applications.
  • Self-locking thread — Manual threaded spindle maintains tension without ratchet release.
  • Two end configurations — Shortening hooks (HH) for chain attachment, or clevis ends (ÖÖ) for fitted assemblies.
  • EN 12195-3 compliant — European load-restraint standard for transport applications.
  • Universal applicability — Suitable for chain, strap or wire rope lashing systems.
  • Robust forged construction — Built for repeated transport-cycle use.
  • Manual lever operation — No tools required for tensioning and releasing.
  • Marked with LC rating — Lashing capacity clearly visible on each binder for compliance checks.

Technical Specifications

Item # Description Lashing Capacity (daN) End Type
N43300012 RLSP-08-HH Shortening Hooks 4000 Hooks (HH)
N43300015 RLSP-08-ÖÖ Clevis Ends 4000 Clevis (ÖÖ)
N43300013 RLSP-10-HH Shortening Hooks 6300 Hooks (HH)
N43300016 RLSP-10-ÖÖ Clevis Ends 6300 Clevis (ÖÖ)

N43300017 RLSP-13-ÖÖ Clevis Ends 10600 Clevis (ÖÖ)

Rated in daN Lashing Capacity (LC) per EN 12195-3 — NOT lifting capacity. HH = shortening hooks for direct attachment to lashing chain. ÖÖ = clevis ends for use with existing transport fastening devices, eye bolts or end fittings.

CE Marked | EN 12195-3 Compliant | Self-Locking Thread

Supplied with a test certificate and EC Declaration of Conformity. CE marked to relevant EN standards for lifting accessories. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations required every 6 months by a competent person after initial certification. Design factor 4:1 unless otherwise specified.

Suitable Applications

HGV and freight transport load securing, container lashing, plant transport restraint, construction machinery delivery, scaffold transport, pipe and steel transport, agricultural machinery securing, and any road, rail or sea transport application requiring compliant load restraint to EN 12195-3.

How to Use the RLSP Load Binders

  1. Inspect the binder before every use — spindle threads, hooks or clevis, lever and identification markings.
  2. Confirm required Lashing Capacity matches transport load calculation per EN 12195-1.
  3. Connect the HH hooks to the lashing chain links or the ÖÖ clevis ends to existing fitting points.
  4. Operate the lever to retract the spindle and apply initial tension.
  5. Continue lever strokes until the required Standard Tension Force (STF) is achieved.
  6. Lock off by ensuring the self-locking thread is fully engaged.
  7. Check tension periodically during transport and re-tension if loads settle.
  8. To release, operate the lever in the opposite direction to extend the spindle.

Warning:
RLSP binders are LOAD RESTRAINT devices for transport — they are NOT lifting equipment and must not be used to suspend loads. Calculate required LC and STF per EN 12195-1 for the load, vehicle, and transport mode. Do not exceed the rated LC. Replace any binder showing thread damage, deformed hooks, or cracked clevis fittings.

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the rated working load limit (WLL) displayed on the equipment.
  • Never use the equipment if any component shows visible damage, wear or deformation.
  • Keep all personnel clear of the lifted load at all times.
  • Do not modify, repair or substitute components other than as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure the operator is trained, competent and authorised for the lifting operation.
  • Do not shock load the equipment under any circumstances.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before each use — focus on all load-bearing components, welds, hooks, safety latches, chain, rope and pendant controls. Thorough examination under LOLER 1998 is required at intervals not exceeding 6 months by a competent person. Replacement parts must be genuine manufacturer items to maintain certification. Records of all inspections must be retained for the life of the equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are RLSP binders for lifting?

No — RLSP binders are LOAD RESTRAINT devices for securing loads during road, rail or sea transport. They are rated in daN Lashing Capacity (LC) per EN 12195-3, not in lifting capacity. Never use a load binder for lifting.

Q: HH or ÖÖ — which should I order?

HH (shortening hooks) is for direct attachment to lashing chain links — the typical configuration for chain lashing systems. ÖÖ (clevis ends) is for use with existing fitting devices, eye bolts, or pre-attached end fittings — common in container and machinery transport. Choose based on your existing lashing equipment.

Q: What's the difference between LC and BS?

LC (Lashing Capacity) is the maximum permitted working force per EN 12195-3. BS (Breaking Strength) is the failure load — typically 2× LC. For compliant load restraint calculations, always use LC, never BS.

Q: How do I calculate the number of binders required?

EN 12195-1 provides the calculation method based on load weight, friction coefficient, vehicle dynamics and the LC and STF (Standard Tension Force) of the binder. Industry guidance recommends a minimum of two binders per load with capacity sufficient for forward, rearward, lateral and vertical restraint forces.
