Yale TKI Crane Weigher with Radio Remote Control

Model TKI | Radio Remote Extended Range | LCD Display | ยฑ0.03% Accuracy | 1.5t to 9.5t Capacity | CMCO Group Manufacture

The Yale TKI Crane Weigher is the radio-controlled equivalent of the TKE, designed for in-line lifting and load weighing where the operator is positioned beyond infrared line-of-sight. The integrated radio remote has extended operating range and transmits through structural obstructions โ€” the preferred option for indoor crane bays, multi-storey construction lifts, and outdoor sites where wind, distance or obstacles limit infrared signalling. Three capacities cover 1.5 tonne, 6 tonne and 9.5 tonne applications, supplied with test certificate, internal rechargeable battery, mains charger, radio remote control and operating manual.

Key Features

  • High-precision load cell measurement โ€” ยฑ0.03% accuracy of the full weighing range, suitable for compliance weighing and load documentation
  • High-contrast LCD display โ€” large digital readout in kilograms or tonnes, clearly visible from ground level
  • Radio remote control โ€” operate the weigher beyond line-of-sight, through structural obstructions, and at extended range
  • Tare and gross/net functions โ€” tare empty containers and switch between gross and net load readings
  • Long battery life โ€” approximately 40 hours of continuous operation between charges, mains charger included
  • Forged steel construction โ€” robust housing built for daily site use, supplied with grade 8 shackle attachments
  • Three capacity options โ€” 1.5 tonne, 6 tonne, and 9.5 tonne models cover the most common construction and industrial lifts

All TKI models share ยฑ0.03% of full-range accuracy, approximately 40 hours continuous battery life, and an integrated radio remote control with extended operating range.

CMCO Group | EN ISO 9001 Certified | CE Marked

This product is manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand to EN ISO 9001 quality management standards. Supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate and CE Declaration of Conformity. UKAS-traceable calibration certification is available on request at the time of order. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations are required every 12 months by a competent person, and annual recalibration is recommended to maintain stated weighing accuracy.

More About This Product

The Yale TKI Crane Weigher is the radio-controlled equivalent of the TKE, designed for in-line lifting and load weighing where the operator is positioned beyond infrared line-of-sight. The TKI uses an integrated radio remote with extended operating range and the ability to transmit through structural obstructions, making it the preferred option for indoor crane bays, multi-storey construction lifts, and outdoor sites where wind, distance, or obstacles limit infrared signalling. Three capacity options cover 1.5 tonne, 6 tonne, and 9.5 tonne lifting applications. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, the TKI is supplied complete with a manufacturer's test certificate, internal rechargeable battery, mains charger, radio remote control unit, and operating manual.

Suitable Applications

The TKI is suited to indoor crane bays, multi-storey construction lifts, factory and warehouse weighing, and any site environment where line-of-sight from operator to weigher is obstructed. Typical uses include high-bay warehouse lifts, indoor steel fabrication, multi-floor construction load placement, and any application requiring extended-range wireless control of the weigher.

How to Use the TKI Crane Weigher

  1. Charge the weigher fully before first use using the supplied mains charger.
  2. Pair the radio remote unit with the weigher following the procedure in the operating manual (one-time setup).
  3. Attach the top shackle to the crane hook or lifting beam, ensuring the shackle pin is fully tightened and secured.
  4. Attach the bottom shackle or hook to the load, ensuring the rated capacity of the attachment matches or exceeds the load weight.
  5. Switch on the weigher using the power button on the display unit or the radio remote.
  6. Allow the display to stabilise and zero the reading if required.
  7. If weighing the contents of a container, attach the empty container, then press the tare button to zero the displayed weight.
  8. Lift the load smoothly and allow the reading to stabilise before recording the weight value.
  9. Switch off the weigher after use to preserve battery life, and store on charge between sessions.

Warning:
Do not exceed the rated capacity of the weigher or its attachments. Do not shock-load the unit. Do not use the weigher if the display shows an error code or if the housing shows signs of damage. The crane operator must remain in full control of the lift at all times โ€” the weigher does not replace standard rigging and lifting procedures.

Safety Information

  • Ensure the operator is fully familiar with the weigher's operation and the supplied operating manual before use.
  • Verify that both the crane or hoist and the weigher are rated for the intended load.
  • Inspect the shackles, pins, and weigher housing visually before each use.
  • Ensure shackle pins are fully tightened and secured before applying load.
  • Do not exceed the rated working load of the weigher or its attachments under any circumstances.
  • Do not shock-load the weigher โ€” apply load smoothly and progressively.
  • Do not use the weigher in environments outside the manufacturer's stated temperature or humidity range.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect the weigher and its attachments visually before each use, paying particular attention to the housing, shackles, shackle pins, and the LCD display for damage or moisture ingress. Keep the unit clean and dry between uses and recharge the internal battery before storage. The TKI is supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate; LOLER 1998 thorough examinations are required every 12 months by a competent person, and recalibration is recommended annually to maintain stated weighing accuracy. UKAS-traceable calibration can be carried out by Columbus McKinnon or any approved weighing equipment calibration laboratory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the TKE and the TKI?

The TKE uses an infrared remote with an 8 metre line-of-sight range. The TKI uses a radio remote with extended range and the ability to transmit through structural obstructions. The two models are otherwise identical in capacity, accuracy, display, and construction.

Q: What is the operating range of the TKI radio remote?

The radio remote typically provides an operating range of 30 to 100 metres depending on environmental factors and the presence of obstructions. Consult the operating manual for the specific range rating of your unit.

Q: How long does the battery last on a full charge?

Approximately 40 hours of continuous operation. The internal rechargeable battery is recharged via the supplied mains charger.

Q: Is the radio remote licence-free?

Yes. The TKI radio remote operates on a licence-exempt frequency band approved for use in the UK and EU.

Q: Is a UKAS calibration certificate included as standard?

A manufacturer's test certificate is supplied as standard. UKAS-traceable calibration certification is available on request at the time of order.

Q: How often should the TKI be recalibrated?

Annual recalibration is recommended to maintain the stated ยฑ0.03% accuracy. LOLER 1998 also requires a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 12 months.

Q: Can the TKI be used outdoors in wet conditions?

The TKI is built for site use including outdoor environments but should not be exposed to standing water or continuous heavy rain. Wipe the unit dry after use in wet conditions and store indoors.
