Pfaff-Silberblau STW-V Steel Jack with Adjustable Claw

Model STW-V | Capacity 1,500 kg to 10,000 kg | Lift 300 to 350 mm | Adjustable Claw in 55 mm Steps | DIN 7355 | Siku or Raku Crank

The Pfaff-Silberblau STW-V is a steel jack with an adjustable lifting claw, certified to DIN 7355. The claw moves freely along the load bar in 55 mm steps, allowing loads to be picked up from different heights over the entire length of the jack. Available in four capacities and two crank configurations (Siku for 360ยฐ use, Raku for confined spaces). Robust base plate provides high stability, load supported on adjustable claw or head with no capacity reduction.

CE & UKCA Marked | DIN 7355 Compliant | German Engineered

Pfaff-Silberblau is part of the Columbus McKinnon group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of motion technology and lifting equipment. This product is CE marked (EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) and UKCA marked (UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008), manufactured to DIN 7355 (Steel jacks acc. to DIN), and is supplied with a Declaration of Conformity. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations are required every 12 months by a competent person after initial certification.

Height of Lift = Height A + Lift. Adjustable claw moves in 55 mm steps from H position (191 mm) up to M position (615 mm) for STW-V 15/30/50. STW-V Sifeku available on request.

Key Features

  • Precisely machined gearbox: Optimal gear ratio ensures minimum operator effort and smooth operation.
  • Hardened gearing parts: Low wear and extended service life under demanding industrial conditions.
  • Load held in any position: Self-energising load brake generates axial pressure proportional to load weight, securely holding the load when the crank is released.
  • Robust steel construction: Steel design with toothed rack of solid material for industrial and outdoor use.
  • Load support on claw or head: No reduction of capacity when lifting on the claw, full WLL available at any rated position.
  • Adjustable claw, freely positionable: Move the claw in 55 mm steps along the load bar.
  • Siku or Raku crank: Both options available across all capacities with same WLL and hand effort.
  • Standard 28 daN hand effort: STW-V 15/30/50 share 28 daN at WLL. STW-V 100 requires 40 daN.

Suitable Applications

Universal industrial steel jack with adjustable claw. Applications: workshop machinery installation, plant maintenance with varying lift heights, construction with varying load contact points, fabrication, rail/vehicle workshops, marine and shipbuilding.

How to Use the Pfaff-Silberblau STW-V Steel Jack with Adjustable Claw

  1. Confirm rated capacity: Verify the WLL stamped on the jack matches or exceeds the load weight.
  2. Position on a firm surface: Place the jack on level, firm ground capable of supporting the load.
  3. Position the load: Centre the load directly above the claw or head, ensuring vertical alignment. No side-loading.
  4. Engage the load: Slowly raise the claw or head until stable contact with the load.
  5. Lift using the crank: Apply steady, controlled rotation. The load brake holds position automatically when the crank is released.
  6. Lower the load: Reverse crank direction to lower at a controlled rate.
  7. Adjust claw position: Before applying load, slide the claw to required height and engage rail in 55 mm steps.

Warning: Verify the claw is fully engaged on the load bar before applying load. STW-V 100 requires 40 daN at WLL.

Safety Information

  • Always inspect the jack before each use (base plate, rack, gear housing, crank).
  • Never exceed the Working Load Limit stamped on the jack body.
  • Use only the manufacturer-approved crank, never with extension bars or mechanical drives.
  • Never use on soft ground, ice, or unstable surfaces.
  • Never side-load, angle-load, or use the jack to lift persons.
  • For sustained load support, place additional supports beside the jack before any work beneath the load.
  • LOLER 1998 thorough examination required every 12 months where used as lifting equipment.
  • Verify adjustable claw is fully engaged on the load bar before applying load.
  • 55 mm step positions are the only safe load-bearing positions.

Inspection and Maintenance

Same routine maintenance as the standard SJ, with additional attention to the adjustable claw mechanism. Inspect claw teeth and load bar rail for wear. Lubricate annually. WOLFF Onsite provides LOLER inspection.

Optional Accessories

  • Pfaff Cranks: Replacement Siku, Raku, or Sifeku (on request).
  • Pfaff Worm Gear Drive S20 / S24: Reduces hand effort on heavier capacities.
  • LOLER inspection and overhaul service: WOLFF Onsite provides full LOLER inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: STW-V or STW-F?

STW-V has an adjustable claw (55 mm steps) for varying lift heights. STW-F has a fixed claw at the lower position. Choose STW-V where lift height varies; STW-F where a fixed position suffices and cost matters.

Q: Capacity reduction on the claw?

No. Full rated capacity at any adjustable claw position.

Q: Siku or Raku crank?

Siku for general industrial use with full crank rotation. Raku for confined-space operation with partial-swing ratchet operation.

Q: How many adjustable claw positions are there?

The adjustable claw moves in 55 mm steps from position H (191 mm) up to position M (615 mm) for STW-V 15 through STW-V 50, providing 8 to 9 distinct positions. The STW-V 100 has similar adjustability over its longer load bar. Refer to the datasheet for specific step positions per model.

Q: Can I retrofit an adjustable claw to an existing STW-F (fixed claw)?

No, the adjustable claw mechanism requires a different load bar design with the claw adjustment rail and a different claw component. The STW-V and STW-F are sold as complete jacks and not field-convertible. If you need adjustable claw capability, order the STW-V from new.

Q: Is the STW-V available with the Sifeku safety crank?

STW-V Sifeku is available on request, not from standard stock. Contact us for lead time and pricing on the Sifeku variant. The Sifeku has a spring-loaded retainer preventing accidental crank disengagement, recommended for vertical lifting applications.
