Eichinger Craneable Gas Bottle Carrier

Model 1328 | Crane & Forklift Compatible | 3 Configurations | Rigid Bottle Docking | CE Marked | UKCA Compliant

The Eichinger Craneable Gas Bottle Carrier (Model 1328) is an all-steel safety cage designed for the safe transport of gas bottles on construction sites and in industrial environments. Fitted with both a central crane lifting eye and top-mounted fork channels, the 1328 provides maximum flexibility for moving gas bottles by crane, forklift or telehandler. Rigid docking stations secure up to six bottles (depending on model), and gated bars protect the bottles from falling during transit. Available in three configurations to suit different bottle diameters: 1328.1 for four small bottles (250mm diameter), 1328.2 for four mixed bottles (250mm and 380mm diameter), and 1328.3 for six small bottles (250mm diameter). Built by Eichinger Equipment Ltd with a rugged tubular construction designed for long-term use in demanding environments.

CE Marked & UKCA Compliant

This product carries CE marking in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and a UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the UK market. Manufactured to Eichinger Equipment Ltd quality standards. An EC Declaration of Conformity is supplied with every unit as standard.

Key Features

  • Dual lifting capability — central crane lifting eye for overhead crane or Hiab use, plus top-mounted fork channels for forklift and telehandler operation
  • Rigid bottle docking stations — up to six individual bottle positions (depending on model) securely hold each bottle in place during transit
  • Gated bar protection — steel gated bars prevent bottles from falling out of the carrier during lifting and transport
  • Three configurations — choose from small bottles only, mixed sizes, or six small bottles to match your site requirements
  • All-steel tubular construction — rugged frame built for repeated daily use in construction and industrial environments
  • Safe gas handling compliance — provides a controlled method for transporting pressurised gas bottles around site by crane or forklift

Suitable Applications

The 1328 Gas Bottle Carrier is designed for construction sites, factories and any environment where pressurised gas bottles — such as oxygen, acetylene, propane and argon cylinders — need to be transported safely by crane or forklift. It is particularly useful on multi-storey construction sites where gas bottles need to be lifted to upper floors by tower crane for welding, cutting or heating operations. The fork channels also allow the carrier to be used at ground level with a forklift or telehandler for moving bottles between storage areas and work zones.

How to Use the Gas Bottle Carrier

  1. Position the carrier on firm, level ground. Open the gated bars.
  2. Place gas bottles into the rigid docking stations, ensuring each bottle is upright and fully seated.
  3. Close and secure the gated bars to prevent bottles from falling during transit.
  4. For crane lifting, attach the crane hook directly to the central lifting eye. Ensure the hook is latched.
  5. For forklift use, insert the forks into the top-mounted fork channels. Ensure the carrier is balanced.
  6. Raise the carrier slowly and check for stability before proceeding.
  7. Transport to the required location, avoiding sudden or jolting movements.
  8. Lower the carrier carefully onto firm, level ground and open the gated bars to access the bottles.

Warning: Gas bottles must always be transported upright. Ensure all bottle valves are closed and protective caps are fitted before loading into the carrier. Never exceed the rated capacity of the carrier.

Certification and Compliance

This product is CE marked and supplied with a full EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. A UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the Great Britain market. All lifting equipment used on UK construction sites must comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). Gas bottle handling must also comply with relevant BCGA (British Compressed Gases Association) guidance.

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the rated bottle capacity for the model being used.
  • Gas bottles must be transported upright at all times.
  • Ensure all bottle valves are closed and protective caps fitted before loading.
  • Secure the gated bars before lifting or transporting the carrier.
  • A risk assessment must be carried out prior to moving or using this equipment.
  • Operation only by persons who are familiar with the equipment and have read the operating instructions.
  • Ensure the area below the lift zone is clear of personnel during crane operations.
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety boots, gloves, and hi-vis vest.
  • The type plate must remain present and legible at all times.

Inspection and Maintenance

The gas bottle carrier must be inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person in accordance with LOLER 1998. All inspections must be documented. Pay particular attention to the crane lifting eye, fork channels, gated bar mechanism, docking stations and all welds. Check for signs of corrosion, cracking or deformation.
