The ATEX variant carries the same 1,000 kg / 8 mm specification with full explosion protection per EU Directive 2014/34/EU, certified to EX II 2 DG ck 195°C (II T3) for dual dust-and-gas hazardous-atmosphere use. The Offshore variant is rated 800 kg with heavier 10 mm rope, designed in detail for offshore platform and coastal industrial use.

The OMEGA ATEX variant carries the full ATEX marking EX II 2 DG ck 195°C (II T3). Each element of the marking specifies a different aspect of the explosion-protection rating:

• EX: Equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres per Directive 2014/34/EU.
• II: Equipment group II — surface industries (not mines; Group I would indicate mining equipment).

How to Use the Pfaff-Silberblau OMEGA

1. Verify the variant matches the site: Confirm the OMEGA variant (Standard / ATEX / Offshore) matches the installation environment. Installing a Standard-variant winch in an ATEX zone is a serious safety breach.
2. Verify the ATEX marking (ATEX variant only): Confirm the unit's certified marking EX II 2 DG ck 195°C (II T3) matches the site's hazardous-area classification. Check that the gas group requirements at your site are met — verify from the ATEX certificate where the portal does not state the gas group.
3. Verify the mounting: Confirm the console mounting is secure and the bolts torqued. The mounting must support the rated load plus appropriate safety factor — for a 1,000 kg lifting winch, the mounting must be engineered for the dynamic load, not just the static weight.
4. Inspect the rope: Visually check the full working length for kinks, broken strands, or surface damage. Remove from service if any defect is found.
5. Fit the hand crank: Attach the detachable hand crank to the gearbox input shaft per the OEM manual. Confirm the crank locks in place before applying load.

9. Maintain a firm grip: Manual operation requires the operator to maintain control of the crank handle throughout the lift cycle.
10. Lower the load: Crank the handle in the reverse direction at a controlled rate.
11. Optional motorised operation: Where the external motor drive is fitted, follow the motor-drive supplier's operating procedure. The external motor connects to the same gearbox input that the hand crank uses — the hand crank is removed when the motor is in use.

Warning: Wire rope winches are lifting devices and must not be used to lift, lower, or transport personnel. Never exceed the rated capacity stamped on the unit. The Standard and Offshore variants are NOT ATEX-rated and must not be used in explosive atmospheres — only the 192010588 ATEX variant is suitable for ATEX zones. The Offshore variant should be cleaned regularly to remove salt deposits, particularly around the hand crank shaft and gearbox seals.
