The Tigrip TZR Load Indicator is the high-capacity range in the Tigrip load indicator family, covering 10 tonne, 20 tonne, 35 tonne, 50 tonne and 100 tonne capacities. It combines a mechanical spring measurement with a clear electronic digital display, giving a reliable load reading without the cost or complexity of a full load-cell crane weigher — suited to heavy construction, structural steel, precast handling and scrap operations. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Tigrip brand and supplied with test certificate and operating manual, with shackle and hook adapter kits available separately.

Key Features

  • Mechanical measurement, digital display — robust mechanical spring measurement combined with a high-contrast electronic readout
  • High-capacity range — 10 tonne to 100 tonne, covering precast, structural steel, and heavy plant lifting applications
  • Universal application — use as a stand-alone load indicator or in-line below a crane hook
  • No external power required — battery-powered display, no mains supply needed on site
  • Robust steel housing — built for heavy industrial use, sized in proportion to the rated capacity
  • Five capacity options — 10, 20, 35, 50, and 100 tonne models cover the full heavy-lifting range
  • Adapter kit compatible — designed to accept matching Tigrip shackle or hook adapter kits, available separately

More About This Product

The Tigrip TZR Load Indicator is the high-capacity range in the Tigrip load indicator family, covering capacities from 10 tonne up to 100 tonne. Like the TZL, the TZR combines a mechanical spring measurement with a clear electronic digital display, providing a reliable load reading without the cost or complexity of a full load-cell crane weigher. The TZR is well-suited to heavy-duty construction, structural steel and precast concrete handling, scrap and recycling, and yard operations where a robust load reading is required across heavy lifts. Five capacity options cover 10 tonne, 20 tonne, 35 tonne, 50 tonne, and 100 tonne lifting applications. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Tigrip lifting brand, the TZR is supplied complete with a manufacturer's test certificate and operating manual. Shackle and hook adapter kits sized to match each capacity are available separately.

Suitable Applications

The TZR is suited to heavy lift operations, precast concrete element weighing, structural steel section weighing, scrap and recycling weighing, yard plant verification, and any heavy-duty load indication application from 10 to 100 tonne. Particularly well-suited to civil engineering and steel fabrication sites where loads regularly exceed the capacity of conventional crane weighers.

How to Use the TZR Load Indicator

  1. Inspect the load indicator and adapter kit visually for damage before each use.
  2. Fit the appropriate shackle or hook adapter kit (sold separately) to the top and bottom of the load indicator if required.
  3. Attach the load indicator in-line between the crane hook and the load, ensuring all connections are fully tightened and secured.
  4. Switch on the electronic display.
  5. Allow the display to stabilise and zero the reading if required.
  6. Lift the load smoothly and allow the reading to stabilise before recording the weight value.
  7. Switch off the display after use to preserve battery life.

Warning:
Do not exceed the rated capacity of the load indicator or its adapter kits. Do not shock-load the unit. Do not use the load indicator if the display shows an error or if the housing shows signs of damage. The crane operator must remain in full control of the lift at all times — the load indicator does not replace standard rigging and lifting procedures.

Safety Information

  • Ensure the operator is fully familiar with the load indicator's operation and the supplied operating manual before use.
  • Verify that both the crane or hoist and the load indicator are rated for the intended load.
  • Inspect the load indicator, adapter kit, pins, and shackles visually before each use.
  • Ensure all connection pins are fully tightened and secured before applying load.
  • Do not exceed the rated working load of the load indicator or its adapter kits under any circumstances.
  • Do not shock-load the load indicator — apply load smoothly and progressively.
  • Do not modify or attempt to repair the load indicator; return to an authorised service centre for any service work.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect the load indicator and adapter kit visually before each use, paying particular attention to the housing, connection points, pins, and the electronic display for damage or moisture ingress. Keep the unit clean and dry between uses. The TZR is supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate; LOLER 1998 thorough examinations are required every 12 months by a competent person. Recalibration is recommended at the same interval to maintain load reading accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the TZL and the TZR?

The TZL covers 2.5 to 20 tonne; the TZR covers 10 to 100 tonne. Both share the same mechanical-with-electronic-display architecture and the same universal application profile. Choose by capacity required.

Q: What attachments are required to use the TZR?

Shackle and hook adapter kits matched to the load indicator capacity are available separately. See the Tigrip Shackle Adapter Kit and Hook Adapter Kit product listings for the correct kit for your TZR model.

Q: How accurate is the TZR?

The TZR resolution is 10 kg on the 10 to 50 tonne models and 50 kg on the 100 tonne model. Accuracy is sufficient for general heavy-lift load verification but is not a substitute for a calibrated weighing scale where documented accuracy is required.

Q: Can the TZR 100,0 be lifted by one person?

At 39.3 kg net weight, the TZR 100,0 typically requires two-person handling or mechanical assistance to position for use. Plan the lift with appropriate manual handling controls.

Q: Is calibration certification included?

A manufacturer's test certificate is supplied as standard. Additional calibration certification is available on request.

Q: How often should the TZR be inspected and recalibrated?

Visual inspection before each use. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations every 12 months by a competent person. Annual recalibration is recommended.

Q: Can the TZR be used outdoors?

Yes. The TZR is built for site and yard use including outdoor environments. Avoid prolonged exposure to standing water.
