Yale Height Safety Basic Kit CMHYP02

Model CMHYP02 | Basic Fall Arrest Kit | Harness, Fall Arrest Lanyard and Storage Bag | EN 361, EN 354 and EN 355 Compliant

The Yale CMHYP02 Basic Kit is the entry-level fall arrest kit in the Yale range โ€” a complete fall arrest package providing everything needed to start working at height. Includes a Yale full body harness, a Yale fall arrest lanyard with integral energy absorber, and a heavy-duty storage bag. Suitable for general construction, maintenance, and access tasks where the user is exposed to a fall risk. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate.

CMCO Group | EN ISO 9001 Certified | EN 361, EN 354 and EN 355 Compliant | CE Marked

Kit components are manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale and Tigrip lifting brands. All components conform to the relevant European standards as listed in the kit contents. Each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate and CE Declaration of Conformity. Work at Height Regulations 2005 require thorough examinations every 6 months by a competent person for all components in the kit.

Technical Specifications

Model Part Number Type Contents Use
CMHYP02 N37420002A Basic Fall Arrest Kit Harness + Fall Arrest Lanyard + Bag General fall arrest at height

Typical contents include a Yale full body harness, a Yale fall arrest lanyard with energy absorber, and a heavy-duty Yale storage bag. Contact us for the specific component models in the current kit specification.

Key Features

  • Complete fall arrest solution โ€” harness, lanyard with energy absorber, and storage bag in one package
  • Yale full body harness โ€” EN 361 compliant fall arrest harness
  • Yale fall arrest lanyard โ€” EN 354 and EN 355 compliant with integral energy absorber
  • Heavy-duty storage bag โ€” protects the kit between uses, keeps components together and clean
  • Cost-effective bundle โ€” more economical than buying the components separately
  • Quick to deploy โ€” ready-to-use kit, no separate component sourcing
  • Entry-level specification โ€” suitable for general construction and maintenance fall arrest applications

Suitable Applications

Suited to general construction site fall arrest, building maintenance, roofing access, scaffold work, and any task at height where a basic fall arrest system is required. Where the work involves scaffold tube attachment, the Scaffolders Kit (CMHYP03) with scaffold-hook lanyard may be a better choice. Where the work involves rescue or confined space access, the Crane Maintenance Kit (CMHYP05) should be specified.

How to Use the Basic Fall Arrest Kit

  1. Open the storage bag and inspect every component visually before use.
  2. Plan the fall clearance below the anchor โ€” typically minimum 5.75 m for a 2 m lanyard.
  3. Fit the harness, adjusting all straps for a snug, secure fit.
  4. Verify the anchor point is certified to a minimum of 12 kN.
  5. Connect the fall arrest lanyard between the harness rear D-ring and the anchor.
  6. Verify both connector gates are fully closed and locked.
  7. Proceed with the working task โ€” keep the lanyard taut where possible.
  8. On completion, inspect components and repack into the storage bag.

Warning: Verify fall clearance below the anchor before commencing work. The energy absorber is a single-use device โ€” after any fall arrest the lanyard must be withdrawn from service and replaced. Always inspect every component before each use.

Safety Information

  • Inspect every kit component visually before each use.
  • Verify all components are compatible and present before commencing work at height.
  • Train all users in the correct fitting and use of the kit before authorising use.
  • Never use any kit component that has arrested a fall โ€” withdraw the affected component from service.
  • Always attach to certified anchor points rated to a minimum of 12 kN.
  • Store the kit in the supplied bag in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and chemicals.
  • Replace any individual component as required โ€” kits can be re-built with replacement components.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect each component of the kit before every use. Components may have different service life and inspection intervals โ€” refer to each component's operating manual for the specific requirements. A competent person thorough examination is required at least every 6 months for all components. Replace components as they reach end of service life or fail inspection. The storage bag protects components between uses; do not store wet equipment in a sealed bag, allow to air-dry first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is included in the CMHYP02 kit?

Typical contents include a Yale full body harness, a Yale fall arrest lanyard with energy absorber, and a heavy-duty Yale storage bag. Specific models may vary between production batches.

Q: Is this kit suitable for scaffold work?

Yes, with a standard lanyard. For scaffold work where the anchor is directly to scaffold tube, the CMHYP03 Scaffolders Kit with a scaffold-hook lanyard is the better choice.

Q: How much fall clearance do I need?

Typically minimum 5.75 m below the anchor for a 2 m lanyard. Always verify the specific fall clearance for your installation.

Q: Can I use this kit for restraint?

The fall arrest lanyard with energy absorber is not designed for restraint. For restraint use the CMHYP01 Restraint Kit which includes a restraint lanyard without an energy absorber.

Q: Can I replace individual components?

Yes. Any individual component can be replaced with an equivalent Yale component.

Q: Is this kit suitable for confined space work?

No. Confined space work requires a rescue harness and retrieval system. See the CMHYP05 Crane Maintenance Kit.

Q: How often must the kit be inspected?

Pre-use inspection by the operator, thorough examination by a competent person every 6 months, for every component.
