Yale Height Safety Construction Kit CMHYP04

Model CMHYP04 | Construction Fall Arrest Kit | Multi-Point Harness with Lanyard | EN 361, EN 354 and EN 355 Compliant

The Yale CMHYP04 Construction Kit is a comprehensive fall arrest kit for general construction work, specified above the basic CMHYP02 kit with upgraded harness and lanyard combinations suitable for trades that combine fall arrest with general construction activities. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate.

CMCO Group | EN ISO 9001 Certified | EN 361, EN 354 and EN 355 Compliant | CE Marked

Kit components are manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale and Tigrip lifting brands. All components conform to the relevant European standards as listed in the kit contents. Each component is supplied with its own manufacturer's test certificate and CE Declaration of Conformity. Work at Height Regulations 2005 require thorough examinations every 6 months by a competent person for all components in the kit.

Technical Specifications

Model Part Number Type Contents Use
CMHYP04 N37420004A Construction Kit Multi-point Harness + Fall Arrest Lanyard + Bag General construction fall arrest

Construction-grade specification with a multi-point harness and fall arrest lanyard combination suitable for trades that work at height across a typical site.

Key Features

  • Construction-grade specification โ€” more capable than the basic kit, suitable for trades that need front and rear attachment options
  • Yale multi-point harness โ€” EN 361 compliant with multiple D-ring attachment points
  • Yale fall arrest lanyard with energy absorber โ€” EN 354 / 355 compliant
  • Heavy-duty storage bag โ€” protects components between uses
  • Recommended for general site PPE issue โ€” covers most fall arrest scenarios encountered in construction
  • Test certificates included โ€” each component supplied with its own certificate
  • Compatible with all Yale accessories โ€” extend the kit with additional Yale height safety components as needed

Suitable Applications

Suited to general construction including formwork, steelwork, roofing, cladding, building services installation, fit-out, and any general site activity that exposes the user to a fall risk. For specific applications such as scaffold work (use CMHYP03), restraint only (use CMHYP01), or confined space (use CMHYP05), see the dedicated kits.

How to Use the Construction Kit

  1. Open the bag and inspect every component before each use.
  2. Plan the fall clearance and anchor points for the working task.
  3. Fit the harness, adjusting all straps for a snug, secure fit.
  4. Verify the anchor point is certified to a minimum of 12 kN.
  5. Connect the fall arrest lanyard between the appropriate harness D-ring and the anchor.
  6. Verify all connector gates are fully closed and locked.
  7. Proceed with the working task.
  8. On completion, inspect and repack into the bag.

Warning: Use the appropriate harness D-ring for the task โ€” front D-ring for ladder fall arresters, rear D-ring for general fall arrest. After any fall, withdraw the entire kit from service for competent person inspection.

Safety Information

  • Inspect every kit component visually before each use.
  • Verify all components are compatible and present before commencing work at height.
  • Train all users in the correct fitting and use of the kit before authorising use.
  • Never use any kit component that has arrested a fall โ€” withdraw the affected component from service.
  • Always attach to certified anchor points rated to a minimum of 12 kN.
  • Store the kit in the supplied bag in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and chemicals.
  • Replace any individual component as required โ€” kits can be re-built with replacement components.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect each component of the kit before every use. Components may have different service life and inspection intervals โ€” refer to each component's operating manual for the specific requirements. A competent person thorough examination is required at least every 6 months for all components. Replace components as they reach end of service life or fail inspection. The storage bag protects components between uses; do not store wet equipment in a sealed bag, allow to air-dry first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is included in the CMHYP04 kit?

Typical contents include a Yale multi-point full body harness, a Yale fall arrest lanyard with energy absorber, and a heavy-duty Yale storage bag. Specific component models may vary between production batches.

Q: How does the CMHYP04 differ from the CMHYP02 Basic Kit?

The CMHYP04 specifies a multi-point harness (typically two-point or three-point) compared to the basic CMHYP02 single-point harness. This provides additional attachment options for ladder fall arresters and varied site work.

Q: Is this kit suitable for ladder climbing?

Yes, when used with the front D-ring of the multi-point harness and a compatible ladder fall arrester rail system.

Q: Can I use this kit for scaffold work?

Yes, but for daily scaffold work the CMHYP03 Scaffolders Kit with twin tail scaffold hook lanyard is the better choice.

Q: Can I replace individual components?

Yes. Any component can be replaced with an equivalent Yale component.

Q: How much fall clearance do I need?

Typically minimum 5.75 m below the anchor for a 2 m lanyard.

Q: How often must the kit be inspected?

Pre-use inspection by the operator, thorough examination by a competent person every 6 months.
