This product is manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand to EN ISO 9001 quality management standards. Compliant with BS EN 361 for fall arrest harnesses and BS EN 358 for work positioning. Supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate and CE Declaration of Conformity. PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 Category III. LOLER 1998 and Work at Height Regulations 2005 require thorough examinations every 6 months by a competent person.
The Yale CMHYP70 Riggers Harness is the top-specification harness in the Yale range, designed for riggers, scaffolders, structural steel workers, and trades that combine fall arrest, work positioning, suspension, and rescue scenarios in a single working day. Five certified attachment points โ front, rear, two side, and a chest sternal D-ring โ combined with an integrated padded work positioning belt, padded shoulder and leg straps, and accessory loops for tool attachment, make the CMHYP70 the premium choice for daily professional use at height. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate and operating manual.
The CMHYP70 is the recommended harness for riggers, scaffolders, structural steel erectors, telecoms tower riggers, wind turbine technicians, and any trade where the user spends long days at height and switches between fall arrest, work positioning, ladder climbing, and rigging tasks. Where rescue retrieval is also required, see the Yale CMHYP10R Rescue Harness.
Warning:
Side D-rings and the sternal D-ring are for work positioning and rigging connection only โ never use as fall arrest attachment. Tool attachment loops are not load-bearing. Fall arrest must use the front or rear D-ring. Plan rigging tasks carefully โ the harness is one element of a wider rigging and lifting plan.
Inspect the harness visually and by hand before each use, paying particular attention to webbing for cuts, fraying, burns, or chemical damage, stitching for breaks or pulled threads, buckles and adjusters for distortion or damage, and D-rings for cracks, wear, or deformation. Clean using warm water and a mild detergent only โ do not use solvents. Air-dry away from direct heat. Store in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight, sharp objects, and chemicals. Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and PPE Regulations, a thorough examination must be carried out by a competent person at least every 6 months, with records kept. The maximum service life of a height safety harness is typically 10 years from date of first use, subject to inspection โ refer to the manufacturer's manual for the specific service life of your model.
The CMHYP70 has five D-ring attachment points (compared to the CMHYP56A's four), padded shoulder and leg straps for extended wear comfort, and tool attachment loops designed for the way riggers and scaffolders work. It's the premium specification in the Yale range.
The sternal (chest) D-ring is typically used for ladder climbing fall arrester systems and for situations where a high front attachment is required.
No. Tool attachment loops are designed to carry rigging tools, spanners, and small hand tools only โ they are not rated as load-bearing attachment points and must never be used for fall arrest or for lifting loads.
Yes โ the CMHYP70 is designed for trades that wear a harness all day. Padded straps, premium webbing, and the work positioning belt make it suitable for extended daily use.
The CMHYP70 adds a fifth (sternal) D-ring, padded shoulder and leg straps, and tool attachment loops to the CMHYP56A specification. Choose the CMHYP70 for riggers, scaffolders, and trades that wear a harness all day; choose the CMHYP56A where the additional riggers features are not required.
Pre-use inspection by the operator, and a thorough examination by a competent person every 6 months.
Yes. A manufacturer's test certificate is supplied with every harness.
