Yale Two Point Full Body Harness CMHYP35

Model CMHYP35 | Two Point Fall Arrest | Front and Rear D-Rings | EN 361 Compliant | Standard and XXL Sizes | CMCO Group Manufacture

The Yale CMHYP35 Two Point Full Body Harness adds a front D-ring attachment point to the standard CMHYP10 specification, giving increased flexibility for fall arrest and rescue scenarios. The front D-ring suits rope grab fall arrest systems, ladder climbing fall arresters and front-attached retractable blocks, while the rear D-ring provides the conventional fall arrest attachment. Adjustable shoulder, chest and leg straps with quick connect leg buckles, in Standard and Extra Large (XXL) sizes; manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale brand with test certificate and operating manual.

Key Features

  • Two-point attachment โ€” front and rear D-rings provide flexibility for fall arrest, rope grab, and ladder climbing systems
  • Front D-ring โ€” ideal for vertical ladder climbing with a fall arrester, or front-mounted retractable blocks
  • Rear D-ring โ€” conventional fall arrest attachment for lanyards or retractable blocks
  • Adjustable shoulder, chest, and leg straps โ€” for a secure, comfortable fit across a wide range of user sizes
  • Polyester webbing construction โ€” abrasion-resistant, UV-stable, and quick to dry after wet use
  • Quick connect leg buckles โ€” fast and secure donning with minimal user training
  • Standard and XXL sizes available โ€” Standard for general use, XXL for larger users or heavy outer PPE

Technical Specifications

Model Part Number Size Attachment Points Standard
CMHYP35 N37020035 Standard 2 (front + rear D-ring) BS EN 361
CMHYP35XXL N4300008966 Extra Large 2 (front + rear D-ring) BS EN 361

Both sizes share identical fall arrest performance and certification. The XXL size offers extended webbing length and adjustment range for larger users or use over heavy outer PPE.

CMCO Group | EN ISO 9001 Certified | EN 361 Compliant | CE Marked

This product is manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand to EN ISO 9001 quality management standards. Compliant with BS EN 361 for fall arrest harnesses. Supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate and CE Declaration of Conformity. PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 Category III. LOLER 1998 and Work at Height Regulations 2005 require thorough examinations every 6 months by a competent person, and pre-use checks by the operator before every use.

More About This Product

The Yale CMHYP35 Two Point Full Body Harness adds a front D-ring attachment point to the standard CMHYP10 specification, providing increased flexibility for fall arrest and rescue scenarios. The front D-ring is positioned for use with rope grab fall arrest systems, ladder climbing fall arresters, and front-attached retractable blocks, while the rear D-ring provides the conventional fall arrest attachment point. Adjustable shoulder, chest, and leg straps with quick connect leg buckles. Available in Standard and Extra Large (XXL) sizes. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate and operating manual.

Suitable Applications

Suited to ladder climbing with permanent ladder fall arrester systems, work involving frequent transitions between fall arrest and front-attached working, scaffold erection, structural steel work, telecoms tower work, and general construction at height where both front and rear attachment options are required. Where work positioning or side D-rings are also required, see the Yale Three Point and Four Point harnesses.

How to Fit and Use the Two Point Harness

  1. Carry out a pre-use visual and tactile inspection of the entire harness โ€” webbing, stitching, buckles, and both D-rings.
  2. Hold the harness by the rear D-ring, allow it to hang fully extended, and untangle any twisted straps.
  3. Place the harness on one shoulder at a time like a jacket, ensuring the rear D-ring sits centrally between the shoulder blades.
  4. Fasten the chest strap across the chest and adjust to a snug fit. The front D-ring should sit at sternum height once the harness is correctly fitted.
  5. Bring each leg strap through and between the legs, fasten the quick connect buckles, and adjust to a snug fit.
  6. Adjust the shoulder straps so the chest strap sits at sternum height and the leg straps sit comfortably without binding.
  7. Verify both D-rings are correctly positioned โ€” the rear D-ring between the shoulder blades and the front D-ring at sternum height.
  8. Connect the lanyard or retractable block to the appropriate D-ring for the working task, using a compatible EN 362 connector with the gate fully closed and locked.

Warning:
Use the appropriate D-ring for the task. The front D-ring is for vertical movement systems such as ladder climbing fall arresters, or front-mounted retractable blocks where the anchor is above the user. The rear D-ring is for conventional fall arrest. Never use a harness that has arrested a fall without a competent person inspection. Never modify the harness.

Safety Information

  • Read and understand the manufacturer's operating manual before first use.
  • Carry out a pre-use visual and tactile inspection before every use, checking all webbing, stitching, buckles, and D-rings.
  • Withdraw the harness from service immediately if any damage, fraying, cuts, burns, or distorted hardware is found.
  • Always attach to a certified anchor point rated to a minimum of 12 kN (1200 kg).
  • Never use a harness that has arrested a fall โ€” it must be removed from service and inspected by a competent person before re-issue.
  • Ensure the harness is correctly sized and adjusted to the user before each use.
  • Train all users in the correct fitting, inspection, and use of the harness before authorising use at height.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect the harness visually and by hand before each use, paying particular attention to webbing for cuts, fraying, burns, or chemical damage, stitching for breaks or pulled threads, buckles and adjusters for distortion or damage, and D-rings for cracks, wear, or deformation. Clean using warm water and a mild detergent only โ€” do not use solvents. Air-dry away from direct heat. Store in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight, sharp objects, and chemicals. Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and PPE Regulations, a thorough examination must be carried out by a competent person at least every 6 months, with records kept. The maximum service life of a height safety harness is typically 10 years from date of first use, subject to inspection โ€” refer to the manufacturer's manual for the specific service life of your model.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should I use the front D-ring versus the rear D-ring?

The front D-ring is intended for vertical movement systems such as ladder fall arresters, or for front-mounted retractable blocks where the anchor is above and in front of the user. The rear D-ring is the conventional fall arrest attachment for use with lanyards or retractable blocks anchored above the user.

Q: Is the CMHYP35 compatible with ladder fall arrester rails?

Yes. The front D-ring is positioned to mate with the runner of a vertical rigid or flexible ladder fall arrester system that conforms to EN 353-1 or EN 353-2.

Q: Can I use both D-rings at the same time?

No. Only one fall arrest attachment point should be loaded at a time. Connect to the D-ring most appropriate for the task.

Q: What is the difference between Standard and XXL?

Both sizes share identical fall arrest performance and certification. The XXL offers extended webbing length and adjustment range for larger users or for use over heavy outer PPE.

Q: How often should the harness be inspected?

Pre-use inspection by the operator before every use, and a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 6 months under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Q: Is a test certificate included?

Yes. A manufacturer's test certificate is supplied with every harness.

Q: Can the harness be washed?

Yes โ€” using warm water and a mild detergent only. Do not use solvents, bleach, or aggressive chemicals. Air-dry away from direct heat or sunlight.
