Camlok TCS Coil Hook with Automatic 90° Tilting Device

Model TCS | Automatic 90° Coil Rotation | Adjustable Coil Width | 500–3000 kg | In Stock

The Camlok TCS Coil Hook is specifically designed for lifting coils of steel or banding material that are lying flat. As the crane hook is raised, the integrated tipping device automatically rotates the coil 90° from horizontal to vertical, enabling easy loading onto machines, racks or storage. The adjustable coil width range allows a single TCS model to handle multiple coil sizes. Available in eight variants from 500 kg to 3000 kg with a 4:1 safety factor and 3-day lead time — all variants are held in stock for immediate dispatch.

CE Marked | EN Lifting Standards | 4:1 Safety Factor | Stock Available

Supplied with a test certificate and EC Declaration of Conformity. CE marked to relevant EN standards for lifting accessories. LOLER 1998 thorough examinations required every 6 months by a competent person after initial certification. Design factor 4:1 unless otherwise specified.

Model number reads as Capacity (tonnes) / Max Coil Width (mm). All variants in stock with 3-day lead time — significantly faster than the TCK C-Hook range. Coil width range covers two dimensions for each capacity, providing flexibility across coil sizes.

Key Features

  • Automatic 90° tilting device — Coil rotates from horizontal to vertical automatically as the hook is raised — no manual intervention needed.
  • Specialised flat-coil handling — Purpose-built for coils stored flat on pallets or in racks — handles them safely without lifting equipment damage.
  • Adjustable coil width range — Each model covers a min-max coil width — one TCS handles a range of coil sizes.
  • Smooth controlled tipping motion — Slow, safe transition minimises shock load and prevents damage to the coil.
  • Integrated slip prevention — The tipping device doubles as a safety feature, preventing accidental coil slippage during lifting.
  • 4:1 design safety factor — Manufactured to rigorous industrial lifting standards.
  • In-stock availability — All variants held in stock with 3-day lead time for fast delivery.
  • Camlok engineering quality — Part of the established Camlok CMCO range of specialist lifting attachments.

Suitable Applications

Steel service centres receiving coils stored flat on pallets, coil processing lines requiring vertical loading onto uncoilers, banding material handling, paper and cardboard reel handling where coils arrive flat and need to be rotated upright for further processing, and steel storage operations.

How to Use the Camlok TCS Coil Hook

  1. Inspect the TCS before each use — check the body, tipping mechanism, suspension and hook engagement.
  2. Confirm coil capacity is within the TCS rated WLL and coil width is within the rated min-max range.
  3. Position the crane hook above the centre of the flat-lying coil.
  4. Lower the TCS so the hook arm enters the coil bore.
  5. Lift slowly — the tipping device will rotate the coil 90° from horizontal to vertical automatically.
  6. Transport the upright coil to the destination with minimum swing.
  7. Lower into the receiving rack or onto the next process — the coil will release as the load is removed.

Warning: Allow the tipping motion to complete fully before traversing. Do not stand under or beside the coil while the tipping device is rotating the load. Confirm the coil bore is centred under the crane hook before lifting.

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the rated working load limit (WLL) displayed on the equipment.
  • Never use the equipment if any component shows visible damage, wear or deformation.
  • Keep all personnel clear of the lifted load at all times.
  • Do not modify, repair or substitute components other than as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure the operator is trained, competent and authorised for the lifting operation.
  • Do not shock load the equipment under any circumstances.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before each use with particular attention to jaw faces, locking mechanism, shackle, hook and safety latch. Check for wear, distortion or damage to all load-bearing components. Thorough examination under LOLER 1998 is required at intervals not exceeding 6 months by a competent person. Use only genuine manufacturer replacement parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a TCS Coil Hook and a TCK C-Hook?

The TCK C-Hook lifts coils that are already upright (vertical bore) and has a fixed coil width per model. The TCS Coil Hook lifts coils that are lying flat (horizontal bore) and automatically rotates them 90° to vertical as it lifts. The TCS also has an adjustable coil width range while the TCK is fixed per model.

Q: How does the automatic 90° rotation work?

The TCS uses an integrated tipping device — as the crane hook is raised, the geometry of the TCS rotates the coil from horizontal to vertical orientation in a controlled, continuous motion. The mechanism is purely mechanical with no powered drive.

Q: How do I select the right TCS model for my coil size?

Two criteria: (1) capacity — TCS WLL must exceed coil weight; (2) coil width — the coil must fall within the TCS Min-Max Coil Width A range. For example, the TCS 2,0/300 handles 2 tonne coils with widths between 200 mm and 300 mm.

Q: Can the TCS handle materials other than steel coils?

Yes — paper and cardboard reels, banding material coils and similar flat-stored cylindrical loads are all compatible, provided the weight and bore dimensions match the TCS specification.

Q: Is the coil width adjustment continuous or in fixed steps?

The TCS handles any coil width within its rated Min-Max range — no manual adjustment is required between coils. The geometry self-adapts to the coil being lifted.
