Suitable Applications

How to Use Safely
- Inspect the magnet before each use. Check the body, magnetic faces, lever mechanism, locking pin, lifting eye and any safety latch for damage, wear or corrosion. Clean the magnetic face of any debris, oil or paint that could reduce contact.
- Verify the load: confirm the workpiece is a ferrous material (carbon steel) of suitable thickness, in good condition, and within the rated WLL for the surface type (flat or round) — refer to the spec table. Apply appropriate derating factors for thin material, painted surfaces, rust or surface roughness.
- With the lever in the OFF position, place the magnet centrally on the workpiece. Ensure full contact between the magnet face and the load — no gaps, no contamination.
- Engage the lever to the ON position fully and confirm the locking pin engages. The locking position prevents accidental release under load.
- Attach a suitably rated lifting chain or sling to the lifting eye via a shackle with safety pin.
- Apply load progressively. Test the holding force at a low lift height before proceeding to full lift.
- After lift, lower the load completely and ensure it is fully supported before disengaging the lever.
- Release the locking pin, return the lever to the OFF position, and remove the magnet from the workpiece.
Inspection and Maintenance
A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for detailed inspection and maintenance instructions, derating factors for use, and replacement schedules for any wearing components.

Q: What's the difference between the flat and round WLL ratings?

Q: Can I use the TPM on stainless steel or aluminium?
