Camlok TPZ Board Clamps

400kg & 750kg WLL | For Lifting Sheet, Plate & Board Materials | Standard or Long-Reach (L) Variants | CE Marked

The Camlok TPZ board clamp is a robust mechanical clamp for vertical lifting of sheet materials, plates, panels and board stock. Available in two capacities (400 kg and 750 kg), each with a standard or long-reach (L) jaw variant to accommodate thinner or thicker materials. The TPZ uses a self-locking mechanism โ€” gripping force increases with load โ€” providing secure attachment without the need for a power source.

Key Features

  • Self-locking mechanism โ€” gripping force increases with load โ€” the clamp tightens automatically as the load is applied.
  • Two capacity ratings โ€” TPZ400 (400 kg) and TPZ750 (750 kg) covering most board, sheet and plate lifting requirements.
  • Standard or long-reach jaws โ€” standard variants for 5โ€“50 mm or 5โ€“60 mm material; L (long-reach) variants for 50โ€“100 mm or 60โ€“120 mm material.
  • Vertical lift only โ€” designed for vertical lifting of sheet materials โ€” not for horizontal handling or repositioning.
  • Forged steel body โ€” for repeated lifting cycles and long service life.

Technical Specifications

Model WLL Jaw Capacity
TPZ400 400 kg 5 โ€“ 50 mm
TPZ400L 400 kg 50 โ€“ 100 mm
TPZ750 750 kg 5 โ€“ 60 mm
TPZ750L 750 kg 60 โ€“ 120 mm

CE Marked, UKCA Compliant & LOLER Ready

The Camlok TPZ board clamp is CE marked, UKCA compliant, and manufactured to relevant European lifting standards. Fully compatible with LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998 Regulations. Supplied with certification.

Suitable Applications

Lifting and positioning sheet steel, structural plate, timber boards, MDF panels, plasterboard sheets, and other flat board or plate stock in fabrication shops, joineries, construction sites, and material handling operations. The TPZ400 series is ideal for lighter sheet work; the TPZ750 series for heavier structural plate.

How to Use Safely

  1. Inspect the clamp before each use. Check the body, jaws, hinge, locking mechanism, and lifting eye for damage, wear or corrosion. Do not use if defects are found.
  2. Verify the material thickness is within the rated jaw capacity of the selected clamp (e.g. 5โ€“50 mm for TPZ400 standard).
  3. Open the clamp jaws fully and engage them onto the top edge of the sheet/board. Push the jaws firmly home so the material is fully seated against the clamp body.
  4. Engage the locking lever to secure the jaws in the closed position before lifting.
  5. Attach a suitably rated lifting chain or sling to the clamp's lifting eye via a shackle with safety pin.
  6. Apply load progressively. The self-locking mechanism will increase gripping force as the load is applied.
  7. Lift vertically only โ€” do not use the clamp for horizontal repositioning, swinging loads, or where the load may rotate during lift.
  8. After landing, fully relieve load before disengaging the locking lever and removing the clamp.

Inspection and Maintenance

A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for detailed inspection and maintenance instructions, derating factors for use, and replacement schedules for any wearing components.

Warranty & Support

Supplied with manufacturer's certification, identification, and operating instructions. WOLFF Onsite offers post-sales support including spares, certified inspection, and replacement. Contact our team for advice on selection, sizing, and application-specific configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should I choose the L (long-reach) variant?

Choose the L variant when your board, plate or sheet thickness exceeds the standard jaw capacity. The TPZ400L accommodates 50โ€“100 mm material; the TPZ750L accommodates 60โ€“120 mm. The standard variants are for thinner stock.

Q: Can I use the TPZ for horizontal handling?

No. The Camlok TPZ is a vertical-lift clamp only. Horizontal handling, swinging loads, or rotation during lift can cause the jaws to disengage. For horizontal or pivoting plate handling, refer to the Camlok CH or TGF horizontal clamp ranges.

Q: Does the TPZ leave marks on the material?

The TPZ uses a serrated jaw that grips the material firmly under load. The grip will leave indentations on softer materials. For non-marking applications, refer to the Camlok LJ or TSB non-marring plate clamp ranges.

Q: How often should the TPZ be inspected?

A visual inspection is required before every use. A thorough examination by a qualified engineer is required at least every 6 months for clamps in regular use, in accordance with LOLER 1998. Records of examination must be kept.
