Conquip Glass Lifting Frame

A-frame glass stillage for crane lifting glass panels and faรงade panels safely around site. Available in Small (2300ร—1200ร—1750mm, WLL 2000kg) and Large (2400ร—1600ร—2750mm, WLL 2000kg) variants, each with optional castor wheels for ground manoeuvring. Also known as a glass stillage.

The Conquip Glass Lifting Frame is an A-frame glass stillage for crane lifting glass panels and faรงade panels safely around construction sites. Panels are securely strapped to either side of the frame, with the angled sides supporting them under their own weight while protecting the panel faces โ€” substantially better protection than a vertical rack or flat stillage. Small (CA227AA-02000) and Large (CA227-02000) variants share a 2000kg Working Load Limit, with standard-width fork pockets and optional castor wheels for ground-level repositioning.

Key Features

  • A-frame design provides maximum panel protection while achieving high capacity
  • Timber struts and timber base protect glass and faรงade panel surfaces from contact damage
  • Crane lifting points integrated into the top of the frame for safe vertical lifts
  • Standard-width fork pockets at the base for forklift manoeuvring
  • Two size options: Small (1750mm height) for standard glazing, Large (2750mm height) for curtain-wall and feature panels
  • Optional castor wheels available for ground-level repositioning around the laydown area
  • 2000kg Working Load Limit on both variants -- size choice driven by panel dimensions, not weight
  • Reduces site downtime: standard fork pockets mean no machine adjustment needed
  • Robust steel frame construction for repeated heavy-duty crane lifts

More About This Product

The Conquip Glass Lifting Frame is an A-frame glass stillage designed for crane lifting glass panels and faรงade panels safely and easily around construction sites. The A-frame geometry is the key design feature -- glass and faรงade panels are securely strapped on to either side of the frame, with the angled sides supporting the panels under the load of their own weight while protecting the panel faces from damage. This shape achieves the highest practical capacity for the frame footprint while offering substantially better protection than a vertical rack or flat stillage. Both Small and Large variants share the same 2000kg Working Load Limit, with the choice between them driven by panel size and stack height. The Small frame (CA227AA-02000) suits standard glazing panels and smaller faรงade units. The Large frame (CA227-02000) accommodates taller and wider panels typical of curtain-wall glazing and feature faรงades. Standard-width fork pockets allow forklift manoeuvring without machine adjustment, reducing on-site downtime. Optional castor wheels are available on either variant for ground-level repositioning around the laydown area.

Dimensions and Weights

Variant Product Code Length (mm) Width (mm) Height (mm) Weight (kg) WLL (kg)
Small CA227AA-02000 2300 1200 1750 150 2000
Large CA227-02000 2400 1600 2750 410 2000

Customisation Options

Castor wheels are available as an optional extra on either size variant -- specify "with castor wheels" when ordering. Castor wheels enable ground-level repositioning of the frame around the laydown area without forklift involvement, useful on sites with restricted machine access or where the frame needs to be moved between protected zones. Bespoke configurations may also be available -- contact us to discuss specific project requirements.

Suitable Applications

The Glass Lifting Frame is essential for any project involving crane delivery and placement of glass panels or faรงade panels. Common applications include curtain-wall glazing installation, faรงade panel handling on commercial buildings and high-rise residential, glazing distribution around large-footprint sites, and protected ground-level storage of panels prior to installation. The Small variant suits standard glazing units and shorter faรงade panels; the Large variant accommodates feature glazing, curtain-wall units, and taller architectural panels.

How to Use

  1. Carry out a pre-use inspection: frame structure, timber struts and base, crane lifting points, fork pockets, castor wheels (if fitted), strap attachment points
  2. Confirm the frame's WLL of 2000kg is rated for the total weight of panels to be loaded
  3. Position the frame on a level, firm surface in the loading area
  4. Load glass or faรงade panels symmetrically onto both sides of the A-frame, panel by panel
  5. Secure each panel to the frame using approved straps -- never load panels without strapping
  6. Verify the load is balanced (equal weight on both sides of the A-frame)
  7. For crane lift: connect a four-leg chain sling or appropriate lifting accessory to the crane lifting points at the top of the frame
  8. For forklift movement: insert forks fully into the standard-width fork pockets at the base
  9. Take the strain slowly and verify the lift or move is balanced before proceeding
  10. Position the frame at the destination, lower onto a level surface, and verify stability before unstrapping panels

Warning:
Working Load Limit of 2000kg must not be exceeded. Panels must be securely strapped to the frame before any lift or move -- never lift or move an unstrapped frame. Loads must be balanced on both sides of the A-frame to prevent toppling. Inspect frame and lifting points before every use under LOLER 1998.

Safety Information

  • Working Load Limit of 2000kg must not be exceeded under any circumstance
  • Panels must be securely strapped to both sides of the A-frame before any lift or move
  • Loads must be balanced -- equal weight on both sides of the A-frame to prevent toppling under load
  • Pre-use inspection required; thorough examination every six months under LOLER 1998
  • Frames with damaged timber struts/base, deformed crane lifting points, damaged fork pockets, or compromised castor wheel mounts must be removed from service
  • Lifting must be carried out by a competent crane operator with a trained banksman or signaller
  • Ground personnel must stay clear of the lifting and travel zone during crane moves
  • Castor wheels (if fitted) are for ground-level repositioning only -- do not attempt to move a loaded frame on castors over uneven ground or up/down inclines
  • Do not stand directly beneath a loaded frame during lifting or placement
  • Glass panel handling must follow site-specific glazing handling procedures, including PPE for handling sharp edges
  • Damaged or cracked panels must not be loaded -- use alternative storage and removal methods

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a glass stillage?

A glass stillage is the trade name for a glass lifting frame -- an A-frame structure used to safely store and crane-lift glass panels around a construction site. The terms "Glass Lifting Frame" and "glass stillage" refer to the same product.

Q: Which size do I need?

Match the frame size to your panel dimensions. The Small frame (1750mm height) suits standard glazing units and shorter faรงade panels. The Large frame (2750mm height) accommodates taller curtain-wall glazing, feature panels, and architectural faรงade units. Both share the same 2000kg WLL -- size choice is driven by panel dimensions, not weight.

Q: Do I need castor wheels?

Castor wheels are optional. They enable ground-level repositioning around the laydown area without forklift involvement, which is useful on sites with restricted machine access. If your frame will only be moved by forklift or crane, the castor wheels are not necessary.

Q: Can I use a forklift to move the frame?

Yes -- the frame has standard-width fork pockets at the base. Insert forks fully into both pockets, lift slowly to verify balance, then move at low speed. Castor wheels (if fitted) do not interfere with forklift use.

Q: What's the difference between this and a flat stillage?

The A-frame design holds panels at an angle, with each panel supported on its long edge by the timber base and held in place against the angled side. This protects the panel faces from contact damage and reduces stress on the panel during transit. A flat stillage (typically used for crates and boxes) does not provide either of these benefits and is unsuitable for glass or faรงade panel handling.
