The Pfaff-Silberblau SJ is a mechanical steel jack manufactured to DIN 7355, for lifting, supporting and bracing loads in maintenance and repair, shipbuilding, construction and agricultural applications. Supplied as standard with a Raku ratchet crank for confined-space operation, the load is supported on either the lifting claw (low-clearance pickup) or the head with no reduction in rated capacity, and the self-energising load brake holds the load securely in any position when the crank is released.

Suitable Applications
The Pfaff SJ is the universal industrial steel jack. Typical applications: vehicle and machinery maintenance, shipbuilding and dry dock work, construction and steel erection, agricultural maintenance, rail track work, and warehouse equipment installation.
A rack and pinion jack has no fluid to leak and no seals to fail, which suits infrequent use and cold or dirty conditions; for cylinder-based lifting a matched hydraulic pump is needed.
How to Use the Pfaff-Silberblau SJ Steel Jack
- Confirm rated capacity: Verify the WLL stamped on the jack matches or exceeds the load weight.
- Position on a firm surface: Place the jack on level, firm ground capable of supporting the load.
- Position the load: Centre the load directly above the claw or head, ensuring vertical alignment. No side-loading.
- Engage the load: Slowly raise the claw or head until stable contact with the load.
- Lift using the crank: Apply steady, controlled rotation. The load brake holds position automatically when the crank is released.
- Lower the load: Reverse crank direction to lower at a controlled rate.
Warning:
Pfaff jacks are not for passenger lifting. Never use on soft ground, ice, or unstable surfaces. The SJ 100 requires 56 daN at WLL, plan for two operators or use the Worm Gear Drive accessory.
