The Yale CPA Pneumatic Chain Hoist with Top Hook is a compact air-powered hoist for continuous-duty industrial applications. With a 100% duty rating and unlimited motor starts, it covers capacities from 125 kg up to 980 kg, and the all-pneumatic drive makes it well-suited to environments where electric hoists are not preferred.

Key Features

  • 100% duty with unlimited starts — Continuous-duty pneumatic operation with no thermal limit — ideal for intensive industrial production.
  • Rotating piston motor — Robust air motor with high starting torque from switching valves.
  • Integrated limit switches — Highest and lowest hook positions as standard for added safety.
  • Spring pressure brake — Holds the load secure in the event of air supply failure.
  • Lightweight robust housing — Easy to transport between work locations across the site.
  • All-pneumatic drive — No electrical components at the hoist head — inherently safe in explosive atmospheres.
  • Pendant control with emergency stop — Sensitive 2- or 4-button pendant for precise load handling.

CE Marked | UKCA Compliant | LOLER 1998 Ready | Standard Non-ATEX Range

The SKUs in this listing (N08501007, N08501008, N08501010, N08501012) are the standard non-ATEX CPA range. Supplied with EC Declaration of Conformity and CE marking. For ATEX-zone-certified variants see EX05/EX06.

More About This Product

This listing carries the standard (non-ATEX) CPA SKUs. For ATEX-zone-certified variants see the EX05 (CPA ATEX with VTG geared trolley) and EX06 (CPA ATEX with VFT air-driven trolley) listings, or contact us for the current 2024 ATEX SKUs.

Suitable Applications

Automobile and aircraft assembly, shipyards, foundries, galvanising lines, printing, textile and food industries, pulp, paper and cement mills, glass and ceramic industries, woodworking, heat treatment and power plants. For use in explosive atmospheres (paint shops, refineries, oil depots, chemical plants) the ATEX-certified variants in EX05/EX06 are required.

Air hoists suit high duty cycles and areas where electrical equipment is unsuitable. For occasional work the manual hand chain hoist range is simpler.

How to Use the CPA ATEX Top Hook

  1. Verify the air supply is clean, dry and regulated to 4–6 bar before connection.
  2. Connect the air supply hose to the hoist inlet and check for leaks.
  3. Test the pendant controls for lift, lower and (where fitted) traverse operation.
  4. Attach the load hook centrally with the safety latch closed.
  5. Operate via the pendant using smooth control inputs.
  6. Isolate the air supply when the hoist is not in use.

Warning:

Always isolate and exhaust the air supply before any inspection or maintenance. Stored compressed air can cause sudden uncontrolled movement of the load.

Safety Information

  • This listing covers the non-ATEX CPA range. For use in explosive atmospheres (ATEX Zone 1 / Zone 21) use the ATEX-certified variants in EX05/EX06.
  • Never exceed the rated working load limit displayed on the equipment.
  • Never use equipment that shows visible damage, wear or deformation.
  • Keep all personnel clear of the lifted load at all times.
  • Do not modify, repair or substitute components other than as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure the operator is trained, competent and authorised for lifting operations.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before each use — focus on all load-bearing components, welds, hooks, safety latches, chain, rope and pendant controls. Thorough examination under LOLER 1998 is required at intervals not exceeding 6 months by a competent person. Replacement parts must be genuine manufacturer items to maintain certification. Records of all inspections must be retained for the life of the equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What air supply pressure is required?

6 bar working pressure at the hoist inlet. Supply clean, dry, filtered air through a suitable filter-regulator-lubricator (FRL) unit on the inlet line.

Q: Can the CPA Top Hook ATEX run continuous production cycles?

Yes. The 100% duty rating with unlimited motor starts means it is designed for intensive continuous-duty applications without thermal limitations.

Q: What is the difference between this CPA Top Hook and the CPA with integrated trolley?

The top hook variant suspends from a separate hook arrangement and is positioned manually if needed. The integrated trolley variants (CPA/VTG geared and CPA/VFT air-driven) include built-in beam trolleys for lateral movement along an overhead beam — useful where the load must be repositioned along a fixed runway.
