With a 400 kg load capacity, large pneumatic wheels, a robust hot-dip galvanised steel construction, and a steplessly adjustable clamping mechanism, it provides safe, single-person transport of heavy flat materials across site. This CE marked unit is supplied with an EC Declaration of Conformity and TÜV Nord GS (Tested Safety) certification as standard. All items are supplied with a CE certificate, and a UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the UK market.

Where Is the Brick & Block Barrow Used?

The Eichinger 1104 is designed for any environment where heavy flat materials need moving by hand. It is commonly used on construction sites, building sites, paving and landscaping projects, brickwork operations, masonry yards, and industrial depots. The large pneumatic wheels handle uneven surfaces, compacted gravel, and rough ground with ease, while the adjustable clamping mechanism securely grips slabs, blocks, kerb stones, and steel-banded paving packs for safe transport by a single operator.

How to Operate the Brick & Block Barrow

1. Position the barrow and adjust the clamping width to suit the material to be transported.
2. Move the clamping lever to the left to open the left jaw to its fully open position.
3. Wheel the barrow up close to the load, ensuring the material sits flush against the back stop.
4. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until the right jaw contacts the load.
5. Rotate the clamping lever 90° clockwise until the left jaw clamps firmly against the load (maximum actuation force 15 kg — do not over-tighten).
6. Grip the ergonomic handles, tilt the support shield to a horizontal position, and carefully transport the load to the destination.

The barrow is delivered pre-assembled — only the handles need fitting into the uprights and securing with the supplied bolts. Before first use, carry out a visual inspection to confirm the unit has been delivered complete and undamaged. It is manually operated by a single person and requires no external power source.

Certification and Compliance

This product is CE marked and supplied with a full EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. A UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the UK market. The product holds a TÜV Nord certificate with GS (Tested Safety) mark, confirming it has been independently tested and meets European safety requirements. The harmonised standards EN ISO 12100-1 and EN ISO 12100-2 (Safety of Machinery) have been applied during design and manufacture. The national standard DGUV 100-500 (Operation of Work Equipment) has also been applied.

Safety Information

• Transporting people on the barrow is strictly prohibited — risk of fatal injury.
• Only push on firm, stable ground and pull using the handles.
• Never exceed the rated 400 kg load capacity shown on the type plate.
• Use caution when surfaces or components are wet, dirty, or icy.
• The barrow must only be operated by persons trained and familiar with its use.
• Every operator must read the operating manual before first use.
• Apply only light pressure to the clamping lever (max. 15 kg force) — excessive force can bend the mechanism.
• Crush hazard — beware of moving parts during clamping and unclamping.
• The type plate must remain attached and legible at all times.
• If any defects are found, the barrow must not be used until repairs are completed.

Inspection and Maintenance

The brick & block barrow must be inspected annually by a competent person. All inspections must be documented and any defects rectified immediately. Inspection criteria include tyre pressure (3.5 bar), clamping jaw wear, suspension components, bolts, brackets, and the condition and legibility of the type plate. Maintenance must be carried out by qualified personnel before the unit is put back into service. Repairs may only be carried out by the manufacturer or persons authorised by them.
