Conquip IBC Lifting Frame

Crane-lifted frame for safe transport of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) around site. Four-point lift, removable stabilising bar, fork pockets, and latching chain. WLL 1500kg.

The Conquip IBC Lifting Frame is designed for safely crane-lifting Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) around construction sites. Built for a 4-point lift via integrated lifting points and fork pockets, the frame is the recommended best-practice solution for moving water and other liquids between locations โ€” a major improvement over alternative methods such as slings, which can compromise the IBC structure. A removable stabilising bar attaches to the side of the frame during loading and unloading, eliminating a common safety hazard during IBC placement. A latching chain provides additional load security during transit. The high-quality steel construction is built for the rigours of repeated heavy site use. A typical use case is carrying water to the top floor of a concrete slab to support the wet-curing method, or moving fuel and washing water to elevated working locations.

CE-marked | LOLER 1998 compliant | Manufactured in the UK

Key Features

  • Crane lifting points and fork pockets for easy manoeuvrability by crane, forklift, or telehandler
  • 4-point lift configuration provides balanced, secure transport of the loaded IBC
  • Removable stabilising bar allows easy loading and unloading of the IBC into the frame
  • Stabilising bar can be stowed on the side of the frame during loading, preventing potential safety hazards or loss
  • Latching chain provides additional security for the IBC during transit
  • The IBC is safely secured within the frame, greatly improving safety compared with sling-based alternatives
  • High-quality, durable steel construction increases lifecycle and reduces repair and replacement costs
  • Best-practice solution for moving water, fuel, and other liquids around site

Suitable Applications

The IBC Lifting Frame is the standard solution for any site needing to crane-lift water, fuel, or process liquids in standard 1000-litre IBCs. Typical applications include carrying water to the top floor of a concrete slab to support wet-curing of fresh concrete, moving fuel to refuel plant in elevated working locations, transporting AdBlue or other consumables to remote site areas, and relocating wash water for concrete washout systems. The frame is also commonly used in housebuilding, RC frame, infrastructure, and major civils projects wherever IBCs need to be lifted by crane.

How to Use

  1. Carry out a pre-use inspection: frame integrity, four lifting points, fork pockets, latching chain, removable stabilising bar
  2. Position the frame on a stable, level surface
  3. Remove the stabilising bar and stow it on the side of the frame
  4. Place the IBC into the frame, ensuring it is centrally located and seated correctly
  5. Reattach the stabilising bar across the frame to secure the IBC
  6. Engage the latching chain for additional load security
  7. For crane lifting: connect a four-leg chain sling to the four lifting points and attach the master link to the crane hook
  8. For forklift handling: insert forks into the fork pockets
  9. Take the strain slowly and verify the load is balanced before completing the lift
  10. Transport at a controlled speed, avoiding sudden movements
  11. Lower gently at the destination and reverse the process to release the IBC

Warning: Working Load Limit of 1500kg must not be exceeded. A standard 1000-litre IBC of water weighs approximately 1000kg plus the empty IBC weight of around 60kg โ€” verify total loaded weight is within the WLL. The stabilising bar must be reattached and the latching chain engaged before any lift. Inspect the frame, chain, and stabilising bar before every use under LOLER 1998.

Safety Information

  • Working Load Limit of 1500kg must not be exceeded under any circumstance
  • A standard 1000-litre IBC of water weighs approximately 1060kg loaded โ€” verify your total loaded weight before every lift
  • The stabilising bar must be securely reattached before any lift commences
  • The latching chain must be engaged for the full duration of the lift
  • Pre-use inspection required before every lift; thorough examination every six months under LOLER 1998
  • Frames with damaged welds, deformed lifting points, missing or damaged stabilising bar, or compromised latching chain must be removed from service immediately
  • Use only with IBCs that are in good condition and free from cracks, leaks, or structural damage
  • Lifting must be carried out by a competent crane or forklift operator with a trained banksman or signaller
  • Do not stand directly beneath a loaded IBC during lifting or placement
  • Verify the IBC contents and weight before lifting โ€” different liquids have different densities

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why use a lifting frame instead of slings?

Lifting an IBC with slings can compress and damage the IBC structure, causing leaks or even structural failure during the lift. The IBC Lifting Frame supports the IBC externally on a rigid steel frame, eliminating any pressure on the IBC walls and providing a much safer and more reliable lift.

Q: Can I lift the frame with a forklift instead of a crane?

Yes โ€” the frame features integrated fork pockets in addition to the four crane lifting points. It can be handled by crane, forklift, or telehandler without modification or additional equipment.

Q: What size IBC does this frame fit?

The frame's internal dimensions are sized for standard 1000-litre IBCs (typically 1200x1000x1170mm). Verify your specific IBC dimensions before purchase if non-standard.

Q: What is the stabilising bar for?

The stabilising bar holds the IBC securely within the frame during transit. It is designed to be removable so the IBC can be easily loaded into and unloaded from the frame, then reattached to secure the IBC for the lift. The bar can be stowed on the side of the frame during loading to prevent it being lost or causing a hazard.

Q: What is the wet-curing method?

Wet-curing is a concrete curing technique where the surface of fresh concrete is kept continuously moist for several days after pouring, allowing the concrete to develop full strength. Water is typically delivered to the slab via crane-lifted IBC. The IBC Lifting Frame makes this transfer safe and routine.
