Yale YCH Hollow Hydraulic Cylinders

Double-Acting with Hydraulic Return | 33 - 140 Tonnes | 700 bar | Centre Hole Design

The Yale YCH range comprises double-acting hollow hydraulic cylinders with a centre hole, enabling pulling and tensioning applications with rapid hydraulic retraction. Capacities span 33 to 140 tonnes at 700 bar operating pressure. The double-acting design provides faster piston retraction than the single-acting YCS, particularly valuable for high-cycle pulling.

Designed for high-cycle pulling and tensioning

Yale states the YCH applications are basically the same as the single-acting YCS but with hydraulic return via the second oil port. Use of the YCH is recommended when the piston needs to be retracted quickly, particularly with high-cycle pulling applications. For double-acting hollow cylinders, the 'capacity push' is equivalent to the maximum pulling force achieved with a tensioning anchor or threaded spindle.

Applications

Per Yale: mirror the YCS range applications with the addition of high-cycle pulling work where rapid retraction is essential. Yale notes that on request, special hollow cylinders with pulling capacities up to 600 tonnes are supplied.

Key Features

  • Yale ChroMo-Design: chromium-molybdenum steel, heat treated.
  • Large Centre Hole Diameter: 33 to 80 mm depending on model.
  • 700 bar Maximum Operating Pressure: Yale standard.
  • Double-Acting with Hydraulic Return: rapid retraction for high-cycle work.
  • Hard-Chromium Plated Piston: with replaceable, heat-treated saddle.
  • Metric Mounting Threads: cylinder body and inside of piston.
  • Stop Ring: prevents overtravel up to full operating pressure.
  • Inner and Outer Dirt Wipers: protect both bores.
  • 3/8 NPT Oil Ports: 2 ports with 2 CFY-1 female couplers included.
  • All Cylinders with Carrying Handle: lifting rings fitted from YCH-62/250.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the YCH differ from the YCS?
The YCH is double-acting (hydraulic return); the YCS is single-acting (spring return). The YCH enables faster cycle times for high-cycle pulling. The trade-off is greater complexity - two hoses, two ports, and a double-acting pump required.
Can special higher-capacity versions be ordered?
Yes. Yale states that on request, special hollow cylinders with pulling capacities up to 600 tonnes are available.
What pump matches the YCH range?
Yale pairs YCH cylinders with HPH double-acting hand pumps - YCH-33 models pair with HPH-2/2 A; larger YCH-62 and 93 models step up to HPH-2/4 A.
