Yale YCS Hollow Hydraulic Cylinders

Single-Acting with Spring Return | 12 - 93 Tonnes | 700 bar | Centre Hole Design

The Yale YCS range comprises hollow hydraulic cylinders with a centre hole through the piston, enabling a threaded rod to pass through the cylinder for extremely high pulling forces. Capacities span 12 to 93 tonnes at 700 bar operating pressure. The cylinders use Yale's ChroMo-Design construction.

Designed for pulling and tensioning applications using a threaded rod

Yale documentation describes hollow cylinders as the power component within hydraulic puller sets and test rigs. Specific applications per Yale: prestressing of anchor bolts, removing of axles, shafts and bushings, extracting of tubes, and heavy-duty pulling applications. By using long threaded rods and readjusting the nut, larger pulling distances can be achieved with short cylinder strokes.

Applications

Per Yale: prestressing anchor bolts, removing axles, shafts and bushings, extracting tubes, and heavy-duty pulling. Hollow cylinders also serve as the power component within Yale puller sets (BMZ and YHP) and the RPYS-1215 test rig (uses YCS-21/150).

Key Features

  • Yale ChroMo-Design: chromium-molybdenum steel, heat treated.
  • Large Centre Hole Diameter: 20 to 80 mm depending on model.
  • 700 bar Maximum Operating Pressure: Yale standard.
  • Single-Acting with Spring Return: automatic retraction.
  • Hard-Chromium Plated Piston: with replaceable, heat-treated saddle.
  • Metric Mounting Threads: cylinder body and inside of piston.
  • Stop Ring: prevents overtravel up to full operating pressure.
  • Inner and Outer Dirt Wipers: protect both bores of the hollow design.
  • 3/8 NPT Oil Port: CFY-1 female coupler included.
  • Carrying Handles or Lifting Rings: from YCS-21/150 with carrying handle; from YCS-57/70 with two lifting rings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rod can pass through the YCS centre hole?
Centre hole diameters range from 20 mm (YCS-12 models) to 80 mm (YCS-93). Select a rod with adequate clearance through the centre hole.
From which YCS model are carrying handles fitted?
Yale fits a carrying handle from YCS-21/150 upward. Two lifting rings are fitted from YCS-57/70 and larger.
Are dirt wipers fitted to both bores?
Yes. The YCS uses both inner and outer dirt wipers, protecting both the piston bore and the centre rod bore from dirt ingress.
What's the typical use case?
Yale lists prestressing anchor bolts, removing axles/shafts/bushings, extracting tubes, and heavy-duty pulling. The YCS is the power component in Yale's puller sets and test rigs.
