The GLT4-A is the trailer-mounted tower: a road trailer with eyelet hitch, AMOSS kit and a welded hook option for UK towing, so it goes behind a vehicle rather than on one. Two versions are offered — a diesel model with the brighter 4x320W G5 LED array and a mains/generator selector switch, and a hybrid with 4x240W heads and an AGM battery pack that cuts running hours by starting the engine only to recharge. Both carry a darkness sensor and digital timer as standard.

Product Compliance

Stage V certified where diesel powered. Lighting towers supplied with road trailers are built for UK towing with the appropriate hitch and welded hook options; confirm the towing arrangement matches your vehicle before ordering.

EHT = eyelet hitch 50mm for road trailer, AMK = AMOSS kit (no mast raising with hand brake down), DSK = darkness sensor, DGT = digital timer, SWM = mains/generator selector switch, SMH = welded hook UK type, PBD = plastic document box, AGM = AGM battery pack.

Key Features

  • AMOSS kit as standard — the mast cannot be raised with the handbrake down, which prevents the single most common lighting tower accident — raising before the unit is secured.
  • Road trailer with UK hitch options — eyelet hitch as standard and a welded hook on the hybrid, so it tows behind the vehicles a UK contractor actually runs.
  • Mains/generator selector on the diesel model — the SWM switch lets the tower run off site mains where available, saving fuel and engine hours entirely.
  • Hybrid version with AGM pack — the engine starts only to recharge, which on a long overnight job means a fraction of the fuel and noise.
  • 4x320W G5 LED on the diesel model — the brightest array in the lighting range, for large compounds and open working areas.
  • Darkness sensor and digital timer — automatic operation so the tower is not running through daylight hours.

Suitable Applications

The GLT4-A suits contractors who tow equipment between sites: highways and street works, construction compounds, rail and utilities, events and car parks, and emergency response. The mains selector on the diesel model is worth having wherever site power exists, since running on mains costs nothing in fuel or engine hours. The hybrid is the model for long overnight deployments and noise-sensitive locations. Where the tower will be lifted onto a vehicle rather than towed, the Cube range is more practical to transport and store.

How to Use

  1. Position on firm level ground, clear of overhead obstructions and power lines.
  2. Deploy the stabilisers and confirm the unit is level.
  3. Check fuel, oil or battery charge depending on the model.
  4. Raise the mast, observing wind conditions and overhead clearance.
  5. Set the direction of the lamp heads before final elevation where possible.
  6. Lower the mast fully and retract the stabilisers before moving.

Warning: The AMOSS kit prevents mast raising with the handbrake down, but it does not replace checking the ground, the stabilisers and overhead clearance. Never raise near power lines or in high wind.

Safety Information

  • Never raise the mast under or near overhead power lines.
  • Deploy all stabilisers and confirm the unit is level before raising the mast.
  • Do not raise the mast in high wind; observe the manufacturer's wind speed limit.
  • Lower the mast fully before moving or towing the unit.
  • Keep the area beneath the mast clear while raising and lowering.
  • Do not look directly into the LED heads at close range.
  • Confirm the trailer, hitch and lighting are road legal and the load is within your vehicle's towing capacity before moving.

Inspection and Maintenance

Check the mast, winch or actuator, stabilisers and lamp heads before each deployment, and confirm the mast locks correctly at height. On diesel and hybrid units follow the engine service schedule by running hours; on battery and solar units check the state of charge and the panel or charging system. Lighting towers are work equipment under PUWER, and the mast is a lifting mechanism — keep inspection records and withdraw from service on any doubt about the mast or its locking arrangement. On a towed unit, also check tyres, lights, hitch and brakes before every road movement — the trailer is subject to the same roadworthiness requirements as any other towed plant.

What's Included

  • GLT4-A lighting tower on road trailer
  • 4 x G5 LED lamp heads
  • AMOSS kit, darkness sensor and digital timer
  • Eyelet hitch; welded hook on the hybrid model
  • AGM battery pack on the hybrid model
  • Operator manual

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the AMOSS kit?

A safety interlock that prevents the mast being raised while the handbrake is down. It removes the commonest lighting tower accident — raising a mast on an unsecured unit.

Q: Can it run off site mains?

The diesel GLT4-A has the SWM mains/generator selector switch, so where site power exists it runs on mains with no fuel use or engine hours at all.

Q: Diesel or hybrid?

Diesel for maximum light output at 4x320W and lower purchase cost. Hybrid for long overnight runs and noise-sensitive sites, where the engine runs only to recharge.

Q: What towing arrangement does it have?

Eyelet hitch 50mm as standard, with a welded hook UK type on the hybrid. Confirm which suits your vehicles before ordering.
