The S Series is the top of Pramac's petrol range: electric start, a 27 litre long-run tank, a wheel kit as standard, and Honda GX270, GX390 or GX630 power. Run times reach 16.17 hours at 75% load on the S5000, which is more than a full shift. Most builds are supplied with combinations of CONN (a connector for external control), AVR (automatic voltage regulation) and DPP (differential protection), so the set arrives configured for site distribution rather than needing accessories added.

Emissions Compliance

Stage V certified. Every model in this range meets the Stage V non-road mobile machinery emissions standard, which is a condition of entry on many local authority, London and principal contractor sites.

All models are electric start with a wheel kit. CONN allows a wireless remote start/stop or an automatic mains failure panel to be added later.

Key Features

  • Electric start as standard — no recoil starting on a 109kg or 162kg machine, which is the practical difference on a cold morning.
  • 27 litre tank — 16.17 hours at 75% load on the S5000 — a full shift and more without refuelling.
  • Wheel kit fitted — the S Series is moved around site by hand rather than by plant, which the E and ES ranges are not really designed for.
  • CONN connector — a dedicated interface for external control, so wireless remote start/stop or an AMF panel can be added without modification.
  • DPP differential protection — protection against indirect contact, normally required for temporary site distribution.
  • Honda GX630 on the S12000 — a V-twin giving 10kVA continuous single phase, or 11.80kVA on the three-phase build.

Suitable Applications

The S Series is the specification for contractors and hirers running a generator all day, every day: main contractor site power, temporary distribution boards, events and marquees, film and broadcast location work, and standby for commercial premises. The CONN-equipped models are the ones to buy if there is any chance you will later want automatic mains failure operation. Three-phase builds suit pumps, compressors and temporary three-phase supplies. Where the duty is lighter or the set is moved by van daily, the ES Series is lighter and cheaper; where you need diesel, look at the P Series or PMD.

How to Use

  1. Site the generator on firm level ground in the open air with clearance for cooling airflow and exhaust.
  2. Check engine oil and fuel levels before starting.
  3. Confirm the total connected load is within the rating, allowing headroom for motor starting currents.
  4. Start the engine and let it stabilise before applying load.
  5. Connect loads at the socket panel using correctly rated leads.
  6. Shed the load before shutting down, then stop the engine and let it cool before refuelling.

Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal.

Safety Information

  • Operate only in the open air, well clear of doors, windows and air intakes.
  • Never refuel a hot or running engine.
  • Do not connect to a building's fixed wiring without a correctly specified changeover arrangement.
  • Use only leads and connectors rated for the outlet, inspected before each use.
  • Keep fuel and flammables away from the exhaust and hot surfaces.
  • Earth the set in accordance with the site electrical arrangement.

Inspection and Maintenance

Check oil, fuel and the air filter daily, and inspect the socket panel, leads and residual current protection before each use. Service intervals follow the engine manufacturer's schedule by running hours. Generators used as work equipment fall under PUWER, and the outlets and any supplied leads fall within the site inspection and test regime.

What's Included

  • S Series generator in the model and configuration ordered
  • Wheel kit fitted as standard
  • Operator manual and engine documentation
  • AMF panel (PY000A0003K) and wireless remote start/stop (PY000A00009) are separate options

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do CONN, AVR and DPP mean?

CONN is a connector for an external control system, allowing remote start/stop or an AMF panel to be fitted. AVR is automatic voltage regulation, holding output steady for sensitive equipment. DPP is differential protection against indirect contact.

Q: Can the S Series start automatically on mains failure?

Not as supplied, but the CONN-equipped models accept an Automatic Mains Failure panel (code PY000A0003K), which gives automatic start on loss of mains.

Q: How long does it run?

16.17 hours at 75% load on the S5000, 12.62 hours on the S8000, 5.67 hours on the S12000. Lighter loads extend all of these.

Q: Is it towable?

No. It is a wheeled portable set for moving around site by hand. For road-towable units see the GPW and GRW mobile ranges.
