How to Use
- Site the machine in the open air on firm level ground, clear of flammable material.
- Check engine oil and fuel, and inspect the welding leads and electrode holder.
- Select the welding current range on the 8x2 selector to suit the electrode and material.
- Start the engine and let it stabilise before striking an arc.
- Weld, observing the duty cycle — 170A at 60% means six minutes welding in every ten.
- Allow the machine to run unloaded to cool before shutting down.
Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal. Welding also produces fume and intense ultraviolet radiation: use proper eye protection, screening and ventilation.

Check oil, fuel and the air filter daily, and inspect the socket panel, leads and residual current protection before each use. Service intervals follow the engine manufacturer's schedule by running hours. Generators used as work equipment fall under PUWER, and the outlets and any supplied leads fall within the site inspection and test regime. Inspect welding leads, the electrode holder and the return clamp before each use — damaged insulation on a welding lead is both an electrical and a fire risk.
