Project Overview

WOLFF Onsite partnered with GMI on the Rochdale Road project to provide a reliable, low-noise power solution that would support site operations while meeting strict local restrictions. With neighbouring residential properties close to the site, minimising noise, emissions and disruption was a key priority throughout the project.

To support these requirements, the Enertainer Battery Energy Storage System was deployed to deliver efficient, scheduled power during both working hours and overnight silent periods.

The Challenge

Due to the site’s urban location, the project was subject to strict silent hours and local authority restrictions. Power was still required overnight to support essential systems such as:

Temporary lighting
CCTV and site security

Running a traditional diesel generator during these periods risked noise complaints, increased fuel consumption, and higher carbon emissions, all of which could negatively impact programme delivery and client satisfaction.

The Solution

The Enertainer proved to be a highly effective solution. Using its intelligent scheduling system, the battery was programmed to:

Reach peak charge ahead of silent hours
Power lighting, CCTV and other essential systems silently overnight
Automatically recharge during permitted working hours

This approach significantly reduced reliance on the charging generator, while ensuring uninterrupted power supply throughout the day and night, without disturbing local residents.

The Outcome

The results delivered strong operational, financial and environmental benefits:

Generator runtime reduced to approximately 25% of initial expectations
50% cost saving across the project through reduced diesel usage and associated expenses
70% reduction in carbon emissions
Zero noise complaints during silent hours
