Suitable Applications
FlamSafe Site Security Boxes suit construction sites, depots, workshops, plant yards and vehicles wherever jerry cans of fuel, solvents or other flammable liquids need to be stored and transported securely. The ventilated, sump-lined, lockable design supports the control measures expected under DSEAR and your fire risk assessment.
These combine security with spill containment. For tools and general equipment without hazardous contents, a site box or tool box costs less.
How to Use the FlamSafe Security Box
- Bolt the supplied black plastic handles to the box using an allen key.
- Site the box in a well-ventilated area away from heat, sparks, naked flames and other ignition sources, and bolt it down if a fixed installation is required.
- Place flammable liquids inside in their original, correctly labelled, sealed containers (jerry cans).
- Fit your own padlock to the toggle latch (6mm shackle recommended for the 7.2mm loop) and keep keys secure.
- Store only the quantities permitted by your DSEAR and fire risk assessments.
Warning:
Flammable liquids are dangerous substances. Keep the box away from all ignition sources, store only sealed, correctly labelled containers, and observe the quantities permitted by your DSEAR and fire risk assessments. Always consult the safety data sheet (SDS) for each substance.
Safety Information
- Carry out a DSEAR risk assessment before storing flammable liquids and follow the control measures it identifies.
- Keep the box away from heat, sparks, naked flames and other ignition sources.
- Store liquids only in sealed, correctly labelled containers and do not exceed the box capacity.
- Ensure the area around the box is well ventilated.
- Fit a suitable padlock and restrict access to authorised, trained personnel.
Inspection and Maintenance
Clean the paintwork periodically with warm soapy water or a foaming cleaner. Clean and lightly oil the toggle lock as required with a light oil (3-in-1 or similar). Inspect the sump and ventilation openings regularly and keep them clear, and check that warning labels remain legible.
