Installation should be planned properly — siting for exhaust and noise, a changeover arrangement, and a fuel plan — rather than treated as a plug-in appliance. For a larger installation, or where natural gas is available, the GA Series gas standby range runs to 20kVA.
How to Use
- Site the generator on firm level ground in the open air with clearance for cooling airflow and exhaust.
- Check engine oil and fuel levels before starting.
- Confirm the total connected load is within the rating, allowing headroom for motor starting currents.
- Start the engine and let it stabilise before applying load.
- Connect loads at the socket panel using correctly rated leads.
- Shed the load before shutting down, then stop the engine and let it cool before refuelling.
Warning: Never operate a generator indoors, in a partially enclosed space, or anywhere exhaust can reach an occupied area. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is colourless, odourless and fatal. A soundproof canopy does not make a generator safe to run indoors or in a garage.

Diesel standby sets need exercising, not just servicing. Run the set under load monthly so the battery stays charged, the fuel circulates and any fault shows up before you need it. Keep fuel fresh and treated, check oil and coolant on the same schedule, and keep the canopy and its acoustic lining intact since damaged lining raises noise and disturbs cooling airflow. Service intervals follow running hours from the built-in counter.
