The Multi 250 is the flagship of the Multi-Sec modular range, rated to 250 tonnes at up to 15.5m lifting centres and reaching 22m at reduced capacity. Top and bottom connections use Sling Saver wide body shackles at 200 and 125 tonnes. Despite the capacity it remains a bolted modular system, so it transports and stores as components rather than as a single abnormal load.

How the system works

Each Multi-Sec spreader beam assembly is built from two end units and two drop links, with interchangeable struts bolted in between to set the span. Changing the lifting centres is a matter of adding or removing struts rather than hiring a different beam, so a single system covers every span in its range. Flanged connections are aligned with a podger or drift and fastened with the supplied bolts to a specified torque, and the whole assembly is built at ground level before the lift.

The same struts are compatible with Multi-Sec corner units, so this system can later be converted into a four point lifting frame by adding the corresponding corner units. Nothing already owned becomes redundant.

Capacity and span

Working load limit 250 tonnes
Maximum span at full WLL 15.5m lifting centres
Maximum span at reduced WLL 22m lifting centres
Sling angle basis 30° sling to vertical (60° included angle)
End unit length 0.75m
Strut lengths available 0.5m, 0.75m, 1m, 2m, 4m, 6m
Top shackle 200t
Bottom shackle 125t

Working load limits are quoted at 30° sling to vertical. Load charts for 45° STV are available on request. Longer spans at reduced capacity are available; contact us with your span and load and we will confirm the configuration.

What is included

Each kit is supplied as a complete assembly: two end units, two drop links, the strut set for the selected lifting centres, connection bolts, and two top and two bottom shackles at the rated SWL for the system. Instructions for use, proof test certification and a full component schedule are supplied with every order.

Component weights

End unit (0.75m) 303 kg each
Drop link 114 kg each
0.5m strut 242 kg each
0.75m strut 254 kg each
1m strut 298 kg each
2m strut 410 kg each
4m strut 634 kg each
6m strut 859 kg each
Corner unit (frame conversion) 697 kg each

Modular systems are rated by assembled span, so check the marked capacity for the configuration built. The same struts extend into modular lifting frames for four-point lifts, and slings complete the assembly.

Approvals and certification

Multi-Sec modular systems are DNV Type Approved to DNV-ST-0378 and designed, manufactured and tested in the United Kingdom in accordance with DNV-ST-0378 (Offshore and Platform Lifting Appliances), BS EN 13155:2003+A2:2009, BS EN 1993-1-1:2005 (Eurocode 3), EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998. Manufacture is carried out under ISO 9001:2015 with accreditation to BS EN 1090-2 Execution Class 3. Every system is 100% proof tested before despatch and supplied with full certification and traceability.
