Armorgard AdaptaKart AK750

Adaptable Board Trolley | 750kg Working Load | SafeStop Auto-Engaged Brake | Pivoting Rack

The Armorgard AdaptaKart AK750 is an adaptable board trolley designed for easier handling of plasterboard, MDF, plywood, and other large sheet materials on site. The unique pivoting rack allows boards to be transported in either a vertical or horizontal (flat) position, doubling as both a trolley and a work or cutting bench. The SafeStop auto-engaged braking system automatically applies the brakes when the handles are released, providing instant emergency stopping and eliminating the risk of runaway trolleys. Constructed from 2mm powder-coated steel with a 750kg working load limit, the AK750 features extending handles to accommodate boards up to 3000mm in length, fold-down arms for shorter materials up to 900mm, and integrated ratchet straps to secure loads during transport.

SafeStop Braking System & 12-Month Warranty

The AdaptaKart AK750 features the SafeStop auto-engaged braking system - brakes are automatically applied when the handles are released, providing instant emergency stopping. • Extending handles - three adjustable settings accommodate boards up to 1800mm, 2500mm, or 3000mm in length.
  • Fold-down board arms - smaller arms accommodate shorter materials with height up to 900mm.
  • Reduces back injuries - no twisting and lifting required when rotating boards from vertical to horizontal position.
  • Integrated ratchet straps - secure loads safely during transport using the built-in lashing points and anchor points.
  • Forklift skids - integrated skids enable forklift or pallet truck handling for loading and unloading.
  • Heavy-duty 6" castors - four swivel wheels plus central 200mm SafeStop castors for easy manoeuvrability.

Suitable Applications

The AdaptaKart AK750 is designed for drylining contractors, carpenters, joiners, shopfitters, and any trade handling large sheet materials on site. The pivoting rack eliminates manual twisting and lifting when transferring boards from vertical storage to horizontal cutting position, reducing the risk of back injuries. The trolley doubles as a mobile cutting bench when in the horizontal position, allowing boards to be cut at a comfortable working height. Common applications include transporting plasterboard, MDF, plywood, chipboard, cement board, insulation panels, and other large sheet materials around construction sites, warehouses, and fit-out projects.

How to Use the AdaptaKart AK750

  1. Check the AdaptaKart is not damaged before use and test that the SafeStop brake engages and releases correctly.
  2. To release the auto-engaged brake, rotate both handle bars so each handle is at the same height, then push the trolley. When you release the grip or let go of the handles, they spring back and brakes are applied automatically.
  3. Adjust the extending handles to suit board length - lift the pull plunger and pull the handle until it clicks into the required setting (1800mm, 2500mm, or 3000mm). Both handles must be set to the same length.
  4. Carefully load material onto the AdaptaKart. For boards up to 900mm height, use the smaller fold-down board arms.
  5. Secure the load using the two ratchet straps - hook the straps to the anchor points and tighten until taut. Do not over-tighten as this could damage panels.
  6. To rotate from vertical to horizontal: lift the plunger and extend the red handle upwards, then carefully pull down with both hands until the rack is horizontal. You should hear a click when the hook engages. Return the handle into the frame and visually check the latch is fully hooked.
  7. To rotate from horizontal to vertical: lift the plunger and extend the handle upwards, place one foot on the base frame and push the handle up until the hook engages with an audible click. Return the handle and visually check the latch is fully hooked.
  8. In case of emergency, release the handles immediately - the trolley will stop automatically.

Note: Do not exceed the maximum ramp angle of 10 degrees. Use both hands when manoeuvring and take extra care on slopes.

Safety Information

  • Carry out a risk assessment before using the AdaptaKart.
  • Do not exceed the 750kg working load limit.
  • The AdaptaKart is too heavy to be safely lifted by one person - carry out a risk assessment before lifting or lowering the unit.
  • WARNING: Finger trap hazard. Keep fingers clear when using the pivoting rack and adjusting handles.
  • Always ensure the latching hook is fully engaged before moving the trolley - visually check the latch is fully hooked.
  • Use both hands when manoeuvring the AdaptaKart, taking extra care on slopes.
  • Do not exceed the maximum ramp angle of 10 degrees.
  • Use the ratchet straps and anchor points to secure loads before moving.
  • In case of emergency, release the handles immediately - the trolley will stop automatically.
  • When extending handles, both sides must be set to the same length.
  • Do not move the AdaptaKart with a crane.
  • The unit is weather resistant but not waterproof - protect boards and materials susceptible to water damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the SafeStop brake work?

The SafeStop auto-engaged braking system is linked to the handles. When you rotate the handles and grip them, the brakes release and the trolley can be pushed. When you release the handles, they spring back to their original position and the brakes are automatically applied. This provides instant emergency stopping - simply let go of the handles to stop the trolley.

Q: What size boards can the AdaptaKart carry?

The extending handles have three settings for boards up to 1800mm, 2500mm, or 3000mm in length. The main rack accommodates standard sheet materials. For shorter materials up to 900mm height, use the smaller fold-down board arms.

Q: Can the AdaptaKart be used as a cutting bench?

Yes. When the pivoting rack is rotated to the horizontal position, the AdaptaKart doubles as a mobile work bench or cutting bench, allowing boards to be cut at a comfortable working height.

Q: Is the wooden board kit included?

No. The AK750-WBK wooden board kit is sold separately and can be fitted to further protect materials and finishings from damage. The kit includes wooden boards and 46 screws for fitting.
