Steerman LF-6 Fixed-Wheel Load Moving Skate, 6000kg Capacity

Model LF-6 | Fixed Wheels | 6000kg (6t) | 6 ร— 85 ร— 85 mm Nylon | 12kg | Solid Forged Steel

The Steerman LF-6 is the 6000kg fixed-wheel load moving skate from the Steerman LF range. Of solid forged steel construction with two enclosed ball bearings per wheel, the LF-6 runs on 6 abrasion-resistant nylon wheels (85 ร— 85 mm) that provide low rolling resistance and protection of finished floor surfaces. The top platform has an anti-slip rubber lining for secure load contact. Overall dimensions 415 ร— 210 ร— 100 mm, weight 12kg. Maintenance-free in normal use. Use individually for fixed-line moves, or combine with other LF/LFL skates of matching capacity to build a complete load moving system.

European Manufactured | CE Compliant

This product is manufactured to European standards by Yale Industrial Products, part of the Columbus McKinnon group. All units are supplied with a CE Declaration of Conformity. Load moving skates are classed as work equipment under PUWER 1998. Regular visual inspection is required before every use, with periodic thorough examination by a competent person in line with site safety policy and any applicable insurance requirements.

Key Features

  • Solid forged steel construction โ€” robust frame designed for repeated heavy-duty use
  • Anti-slip rubber lining on top platform โ€” keeps the load stable in contact with the skate
  • 6 ร— 85 ร— 85 mm abrasion-resistant nylon wheels โ€” protect finished floor surfaces; low rolling resistance under load
  • Two enclosed ball bearings per wheel โ€” for smooth running and long service life
  • Maintenance-free โ€” no scheduled servicing in normal use
  • Fixed-wheel design โ€” straight-rolling, ideal for fixed-line moves where steering isn't required
  • 6000kg working capacity โ€” sized for the load weight on this individual skate
  • Compact at 415 ร— 210 ร— 100 mm โ€” fits in tight spaces; 12kg weight makes handling and positioning easy
  • Universally combinable โ€” use standalone, in pairs/sets, or combined with steerable LFL units of matching capacity

Suitable Applications

The LF-6 suits workshops, machine shops, panel beating, electrical installation work and any environment where industrial items need to be moved short distances over smooth flat surfaces. Typical uses include moving plant on shop floors, repositioning workbenches and tooling cabinets, installing or removing machinery during maintenance, and moving fabricated assemblies on production lines. For directional control, combine with steerable LFL units of matching capacity; for full-system steered moves of heavy loads, use the Steerman SX/S range.

How to Use the LF-6

  1. Decide on the number and arrangement of skates needed โ€” multiple skates distribute the load across more contact points.
  2. Confirm each skate's 6000kg capacity is sufficient for its share of the load.
  3. Survey the route โ€” smooth, flat, free of debris.
  4. Position each skate under the load using a rated jacking method (toe jack or Steerman RPB roller pinch bar to insert the jack).
  5. Lower the load onto the skates and confirm full, level contact on each anti-slip rubber platform.
  6. Move the load by pushing or pulling slowly. Use spotters to guide each skate.
  7. Bring to a controlled stop and re-jack to remove the skates.

Warning: Do not exceed the 6000kg rated capacity per skate. Do not use on inclines without restraint. Avoid shock loading.

Safety Information

  • Ensure the operator is familiar with the equipment before each use.
  • Confirm each skate's capacity matches its share of the load.
  • Inspect every skate before use for wheel damage, bearing free running and frame integrity.
  • Confirm the anti-slip rubber lining is clean and intact.
  • Keep all personnel clear of the rolling path while the load is in motion.
  • Use spotters for multi-skate setups to confirm even rolling.

Inspection and Maintenance

The LF-6 is maintenance-free in normal use. Inspect weekly with attention to wheel nylon condition, bearing free movement, frame integrity and the anti-slip rubber lining. Replace worn wheels using genuine Steerman replacement wheels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between LF and LFL skates?

LF skates have fixed wheels and roll straight only. LFL skates have steerable wheels (castors) for directional control. Both ranges share the same solid forged steel construction and nylon wheels โ€” choose LF for fixed-line moves where steering isn't needed, LFL where you need to steer the load. They can be combined together in a set so long as capacities match.

Q: How many LF-6 skates do I need for my load?

Divide the total load by the 6000kg per-skate capacity and round up โ€” then assess whether the load is rigid enough to distribute evenly across multiple contact points. For long or flexible loads, additional skates may be needed.

Q: Does the LF-6 have ball bearings?

Yes โ€” the LF-6 has two enclosed ball bearings per wheel for smooth low-friction running, in line with the LF-2.5+ range standard.

Q: What are the dimensions of the LF-6?

The LF-6 measures 415 ร— 210 ร— 100 mm (length ร— width ร— height) and weighs 12kg. Refer to the dimension drawing PDF below for the full technical drawing including roller positions.
