Offset Access Cage

Cantilevered Access Cage | 3 Person Capacity | 500kg SWL | Tested to BS EN 14502-2:2010

The Offset Access Cage is a specialist cantilevered access solution designed to provide safe and efficient access to areas that are otherwise difficult to reach using conventional methods. Ideal for transporting personnel and tools, the cage supports safe working beneath concrete slabs, under buildings, below slipform structures and within restricted spaces between scaffolding.

Featuring a full-length safety handrail, integrated harness attachment points and tool tethering rails, the Offset Access Cage provides enhanced protection for operatives working at height or in challenging environments. The unit also includes forklift pockets for easy site transport, side lifting points for installation and bump stops to help prevent wall marking during use.

Key Features

  • Cantilevered design โ€” enables safe access to difficult or restricted areas where standard access equipment may not be suitable
  • 3 person capacity โ€” designed to safely accommodate up to three operatives, with a 500kg Safe Working Load
  • Full-length safety handrail โ€” runs the length of the cage to support safer working at height
  • Integrated harness attachment points โ€” provides additional protection for operatives working in exposed or challenging locations
  • Forklift pockets โ€” located at the base of the unit for easy transportation around site
  • Side lifting points โ€” assist with installation of tie brackets to cores below slipform structures
  • Opening access hatch โ€” allows operatives to bolt brackets to cores without needing to work outside of the cage
  • Tool tethering rails โ€” two additional lower rails allow tools to be tethered securely at working height
  • Integrated bump stops โ€” four bump stops help prevent marking or damage to surrounding walls and structures
  • Tested to BS EN 14502-2:2010 โ€” designed and tested for suspended access applications

Tested to BS EN 14502-2:2010

The Offset Access Cage has been tested to BS EN 14502-2:2010 and is designed for specialist suspended access applications on construction sites. It provides a secure solution for operatives who need to access hard-to-reach areas beneath structures, around slipform operations or within restricted working zones.

More About This Product

The Offset Access Cage is the only product of its type in the UK and Europe, offering a unique access solution for specialist construction environments. Its cantilevered design allows the cage to extend into areas where standard platforms, scaffolding or access systems may be impractical.

The unit is particularly suited to projects involving slipform construction, concrete cores, suspended slabs and complex scaffold arrangements. The opening hatch at one end of the cage allows operatives to access fixing points and bolt brackets to cores from within the protected cage area, reducing the need to work externally in exposed positions.

Suitable Applications

The Offset Access Cage is ideal for construction sites where safe access is required beneath or around structural elements. It is commonly used for access beneath concrete cores during slipform operations, working under suspended slabs and building structures, accessing restricted areas between scaffold systems, and carrying out inspections or maintenance in hard-to-reach locations.

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the stated Safe Working Load of 500kg.
  • Maximum capacity is 3 persons.
  • Operatives must use appropriate harness systems where required by the site-specific risk assessment.
  • All tools should be securely tethered using the tool tethering rails when working at height.
  • A suitable lifting plan and risk assessment must be completed before use.
  • Only trained and competent personnel should install, lift or use the cage.
  • Check all handrails, harness points, lifting points, forklift pockets and bump stops before each use.
  • Do not use the cage if any damage, deformation or missing components are identified.
  • Ensure the working area below and around the cage is controlled during lifting and use.

Inspection and Maintenance

The Offset Access Cage should be visually inspected before each use and thoroughly examined by a competent person in accordance with site lifting equipment procedures. Particular attention should be paid to the lifting points, harness attachment points, handrails, access hatch, forklift pockets, bump stops and tool tethering rails. Any defects must be reported immediately and the cage must not be used until it has been inspected and confirmed safe.
