4 Tonne Round Sling is an endless-loop lifting sling constructed from continuous strands of high-tenacity polyester yarn encased in a durable, colour-coded tubular woven polyester sleeve. Manufactured to BS EN 1492-2:2000, the grey-coded sling provides a Working Load Limit of 4,000 kg in a straight lift - rising to 8,000 kg in a basket hitch configuration. The endless tubular construction allows the sling to flex in any direction, conforming naturally to cylindrical, curved, and irregularly shaped loads. The protective outer sleeve shields the load-bearing polyester core from abrasion, UV degradation, and surface damage, while the soft material protects the load from scratching and marking. Grey colour-coded for instant WLL identification in accordance with the international colour standard. Each sling is individually serialised with a blue identification label. Available in effective working lengths (EWL) from 1m to 6m.
This product is CE marked in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EEC and is UKCA compliant for the Great Britain market. Manufactured to the performance requirements of BS EN 1492-2:2000 with a 7:1 safety factor - the minimum breaking strength of the core is seven times the stated Working Load Limit, and the outer sleeve must not rupture below twice the WLL. Each sling is individually serialised and supplied with full traceability documentation including an EC Declaration of Conformity. Following Brexit, the UK government has confirmed indefinite recognition of CE marking for lifting equipment in Great Britain.

This product is CE marked in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EEC and is UKCA compliant for the Great Britain market. Manufactured to the performance requirements of BS EN 1492-2:2000 - the European harmonised standard for textile round slings used in general purpose lifting operations. Each sling is produced with a 7:1 safety factor, individually serialised, and supplied with full traceability documentation including an EC Declaration of Conformity. All lifting equipment used on UK construction sites must comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
Round slings must be visually inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every six months by a competent person under LOLER 1998. Inspection must cover the full circumference of the outer sleeve on all sides, paying particular attention to bearing points where the sling contacts the load. Key indicators of damage include: cuts, tears, or holes in the outer sleeve; exposed core yarns; lumps, hard spots, or unevenness in the core; abrasion wear or thinning of the sleeve; discolouration from chemical or heat exposure; and damage to or illegibility of the identification label. Any round sling showing signs of damage must be removed from service immediately. Round slings cannot be field-repaired - damaged slings must be cut and disposed of to prevent re-use.
EWL stands for Effective Working Length - the usable length of the sling when laid flat. Because a round sling is an endless loop, the EWL is exactly half the total circumference. For example, a 3m EWL round sling has a 6m total circumference. All sizes listed on this page are EWL measurements. The circumference shown on the sling's identification label will be double the EWL you select.
Grey. Under BS EN 1492-2, grey indicates 4 tonne WLL - the same colour as a 4 tonne duplex webbing sling.
In a basket hitch, the effective WLL doubles to 8,000 kg. The sling passes under the load with both bights on the hook. Both legs must bear equal weight and the angle must not exceed 120ยฐ.
Yes. Round slings connect to lifting beams using shackles, master links, or by passing the sling directly through the beam's lifting lugs. Ensure the connection allows the sling to seat properly without bunching or twisting.
Yes. The tubular construction of round slings naturally conforms to curved surfaces, providing an even grip around pipes, drums, cylinders, and other round objects. Duplex slings can bunch or roll on curved surfaces, concentrating pressure at the edges.
The choke hitch reduces the WLL to 3,200 kg (80% of the straight lift capacity). Position the choke at the natural 120ยฐ angle for optimal grip. Round slings form a tighter, more secure choke than flat slings.
The outer sleeve is colour-coded - grey for 4 tonne. Each sling also has a blue identification label showing the exact WLL, serial number, EWL, mode factors, and manufacturer details. Always check the label before use.
Yes. Polyester maintains its full rated capacity when wet and resists water absorption. After use in wet conditions, allow the sling to air dry before storage to prevent mould growth on the sleeve surface.
