Pfaff-Silberblau SW-K LAMBDA Console-Mounted Galvanised Steel Wire Rope Winch

Model SW-K LAMBDA | Capacity 300 kg | Single-Line or Dual-Line | Console-Mounted Galvanised steel Housing | Integrated Safety Spring Brake | Removable Crank | CE & UKCA Marked | Made in Germany

The Pfaff-Silberblau SW-K LAMBDA is the 300 kg console-mounted galvanised steel wire rope winch built on the same proven platform as the SW-K GAMMA range. Two configurations are offered: a single-line version with one rope drum carrying 10 m of working rope, and a dual-line version with two ropes giving 15 m on the first layer for installations requiring two separate lifting lines from one winch. Both share the galvanised steel side sections, enclosed sprocket-wheel drive, integrated safety spring brake and removable crank, with a lifting speed of 50 mm/crank revolution on 6 mm wire rope.

Key Features

  • Single-line and dual-line configurations: Choose single-line for conventional single-load lifting; choose dual-line where the installation requires two separate lifting points from one winch (e.g. matched corner lifts on a load frame).
  • Integrated safety spring brake system: Self-acting brake holds the load in any position when the crank is released, with smooth controlled descent during lowering.
  • Compact galvanised steel side sections: Corrosion-resistant alloy housing suited to outdoor and damp environments. different platform from SW-K GAMMA (grooved drum, 18:1 drum-to-rope ratio, spring-loaded rope pressure roller, twin spring-brake safety crank).
  • Enclosed sprocket-wheel drive: Drive components fully enclosed within the housing โ€” protected against dirt ingress, weather exposure, and accidental contact.
  • Removable crank: The crank handle detaches for storage or transport, preventing accidental rotation when the winch is unattended.
  • Operates from either side: Symmetrical housing layout allows the crank to be fitted on either side, useful where the operator must stand in a specific position.
  • Pre-fitted 6 mm wire rope: Galvanised wire rope sized to the rated capacity with appropriate safety factors; pre-terminated and ready for use.
  • Low-friction shaft sliding bearings: Maintenance-free bearing design.

More About This Product

The Pfaff-Silberblau SW-K LAMBDA is the 300 kg console-mounted galvanised steel wire rope winch built on the same proven platform as the SW-K GAMMA range, dedicated to lifting applications at this specific capacity. Two configurations are offered: a single-line version with one rope drum carrying 10 m of working rope, and a dual-line version with two ropes giving 15 m of working rope on the first layer for installations requiring two separate lifting lines from a single winch. Both share the rugged galvanised steel side sections, enclosed sprocket-wheel drive, integrated safety spring brake, and removable crank that characterise the SW-K platform. Lifting speed is 50 mm/crank revolution with 6 mm wire rope, sized for the rated capacity with appropriate safety factors.

Suitable Applications

The Pfaff-Silberblau SW-K LAMBDA is specified for fixed-position 300 kg lifting where the galvanised steel-housing platform offers corrosion resistance over a steel-housed winch. Single-line variants suit conventional 300 kg lifting from a single attachment point: sailing centre boat hoists, agricultural equipment lifts, outdoor maintenance hoists, light access platform deployment, and material handling at fixed lifting points. Dual-line variants are specified for matched two-point lifts โ€” for example raising a small load frame, hatch, or platform that needs two synchronised lift points from a single winch operator. For capacities outside 300 kg on the same galvanised steel platform with lifting and pulling capability, see the SW-K GAMMA range (200 kg, 500 kg, 800 kg). For wall-mounted lifting in the 80 kg โ€“ 1,500 kg range with steel housing, see the SW-W (SG), SW-W Alpha, or MWS ranges.

How to Use the Pfaff-Silberblau SW-K LAMBDA

  1. Verify the mounting: Confirm the console mounting is secure and the bolts torqued. The mounting must support the rated capacity plus an appropriate safety factor.
  2. Fit the crank: Insert the removable crank into the shaft on the chosen operating side and lock in place per the OEM manual.
  3. Inspect the rope(s): Visually check the full working length(s) for kinks, broken strands, or surface damage. On the dual-line variant, inspect both ropes.
  4. Verify the brake: Attach a light test load, raise it a short distance, then release the crank. The load should hold without back-driving.
  5. Attach the load: Connect the rope end(s) to the load via suitable rated hooks, slings, or shackles. On the dual-line variant, ensure the two lines are attached to balanced points so the load lifts evenly.
  6. Lift the load: Crank smoothly. The safety spring brake engages automatically each time the crank is released.
  7. Lower the load: Crank in the reverse direction at a controlled rate.
  8. Remove the crank when unattended: Detach the crank handle for storage or when leaving the winch installed but unused.

Warning:
Wire rope winches are lifting devices and must not be used to lift, lower, or transport personnel. Never exceed the rated capacity stamped on the winch body. On dual-line variants, the rated capacity is the total combined load โ€” not 300 kg per line.

Safety Information

  • Verify the console mounting before each use โ€” bolts torqued, mounting plate undamaged.
  • Inspect the wire rope(s) for the full working length each shift; remove from service at first sign of broken strands, kinks, or surface damage.
  • Never exceed the rated 300 kg capacity stamped on the winch body. On dual-line variants this is the combined total, not per-line.
  • Never use the winch to lift, lower, or transport personnel.
  • Test brake operation with a light load before each lifting operation.
  • On dual-line variants, ensure both lines remain in tension during the lift โ€” slack in one line transfers the full load to the other and may exceed its individual capacity.
  • Keep at least three turns of rope on each drum at full extension โ€” never run the rope off the drum.
  • Remove the crank handle when leaving the winch unattended.
  • Workplace operators must establish a Thorough Examination regime under LOLER 1998 / PUWER 1998 at intervals not exceeding 12 months.

Inspection and Maintenance

The SW-K LAMBDA shares its mechanical platform with the SW-K GAMMA range and follows the same low-maintenance service pattern. The galvanised steel side sections requires no specific corrosion protection. Before each use, inspect the wire rope(s), verify the brake holds correctly with a light test load, check the housing for impact damage, and confirm the removable crank fits cleanly and locks in place. The enclosed sprocket-wheel drive benefits from periodic light greasing per the OEM manual schedule. Replacement wire ropes are available from CMCO; only manufacturer-specified rope assemblies should be fitted. WOLFF Onsite provides LOLER-certified Thorough Examination, spare parts, replacement rope sets, and full overhaul for the Pfaff-Silberblau LAMBDA range.

Optional Accessories

  • Replacement wire rope assemblies: Matched 6 mm diameter and length, pre-terminated for both LAMBDA configurations.
  • Wire rope pulley blocks (DSRB): Pfaff-Silberblau DSRB pulley blocks deflect the rope at 90ยฐ or 180ยฐ to reposition the working line.
  • Console mounting brackets: Reinforced mounting plates for non-standard wall structures.
  • Replacement crank handle: Available from CMCO as a spare or service item.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Single-line or dual-line โ€” which do I need?

Single-line for conventional lifting of a single load via one rope. Dual-line where the load needs to be supported at two separate matched points from a single winch โ€” typically a small load frame, balanced hatch, or platform where two synchronised lifts give better stability than a single central lift. The rated capacity is the same 300 kg total either way.

Q: Does dual-line mean 600 kg total?

No โ€” both variants are rated 300 kg total. On the dual-line variant the load is split between the two ropes, so each rope carries roughly half (150 kg per line for a balanced lift). The dual-line is about lifting geometry, not capacity multiplication. If you need 600 kg, see the SW-K GAMMA 500 or one of the larger Pfaff winch ranges.

Q: How is the LAMBDA different from the GAMMA?

The LAMBDA is fixed at 300 kg capacity and dedicated to lifting only; the GAMMA covers 200/500/800 kg and supports both lifting and pulling. Both share the same galvanised steel side sections platform, brake system, and removable crank. The LAMBDA adds the dual-line configuration option which the GAMMA does not offer.

Q: Can the LAMBDA be used outdoors?

Yes โ€” the galvanised steel side sections is corrosion-resistant and designed for outdoor and damp-environment use. It's the platform of choice for sailing clubs, marine sites, agricultural buildings, and any outdoor installation where a steel-housed winch would corrode prematurely.

Q: Does the LAMBDA need LOLER inspection?

Yes โ€” manual wire rope winches used for lifting loads in UK workplaces fall under LOLER 1998 and require Thorough Examination by a competent person at intervals not exceeding 12 months. PUWER 1998 applies as work equipment. WOLFF Onsite provides full LOLER inspection across the Pfaff-Silberblau winch range.
