The OP is an electric order picker: the operator rises with the platform to pick from height rather than bringing the load down to floor level. At 4500mm working height it reaches the second and third beam levels of most racking installations. In a pick operation that handles cases rather than full pallets, an order picker changes the economics — there is no need to bring a whole pallet down, break it and put it back, which is three movements replaced by one.

Manufacturer Assurance

Lifter by Pramac is backed by over 40 years of material handling equipment manufacture. All Lifter by Pramac products are designed to meet 100% compliance with current standard regulations, and are subject to internal quality testing for reliability and durability.

Key Features

  • 4500mm working height — reaches second and third beam levels, which is where most case-picking stock sits.
  • Operator elevates with the load — picks are made at the shelf rather than by bringing pallets down, removing two movements from every pick cycle.
  • Electric lift and travel — the operator neither pumps nor pushes, which matters over a full picking shift.
  • Purpose-built for picking — a stacker moves pallets; an order picker is designed around the operator working at height, which is a different job.

Suitable Applications

The OP suits case and piece picking from racking: distribution centres, wholesale, e-commerce fulfilment, spare parts operations, and any stores function where orders are assembled from multiple locations at height. It is worth costing against the alternative honestly — if most picks are full pallets, a stacker is cheaper and faster. The order picker earns its place where operators would otherwise be lowering pallets to pick a few cases, or working from steps.

How to Use

  1. Confirm the operator is trained and authorised for order picker operation and work at height.
  2. Inspect the platform, guardrails, harness anchor, mast, chains and controls before use.
  3. Check the floor and aisle are clear and the racking is in sound condition.
  4. Wear the harness where the operating instructions require it.
  5. Travel with the platform lowered; elevate only when positioned at the pick face.
  6. Lower fully before travelling to the next location.

Warning: This is work at height equipment. The operator must be trained specifically on order pickers, not just on pallet trucks or stackers, and fall protection requirements must be followed as set out in the operating instructions.

Safety Information

  • Only operators trained and authorised for order pickers should use this machine.
  • Never travel with the platform elevated.
  • Never climb on or lean over the guardrails.
  • Use fall protection as specified in the operating instructions.
  • Keep the aisle clear of pedestrians while operating at height.
  • Lower fully and remove the key before leaving the machine.

Inspection and Maintenance

As equipment lifting a person, the order picker requires thorough examination under LOLER at least every six months by a competent person, with records kept, alongside the Work at Height Regulations and PUWER. Carry out a documented pre-use check covering mast, chains, platform, guardrails, controls, brakes and emergency lowering. Chain condition is the critical item and must be inspected and adjusted at the manufacturer's interval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How high does it reach?

4500mm working height, which covers second and third beam levels in most standard racking.

Q: Order picker or stacker?

A stacker moves whole pallets. An order picker raises the operator to pick individual cases at the shelf. If your picks are mostly full pallets, a stacker is cheaper; if they are cases, the picker removes two movements per pick.

Q: What training is needed?

Order picker specific training. Experience on pallet trucks or stackers does not cover working at height on a picker, and the LOLER and Work at Height duties apply.

Q: What is the lead time?

It is a factory order item. Confirm the lead time and full specification with Pramac before committing, and check the specification against your racking layout.
