Lifting-gear specialists in Sheffield & London — phone & email

The LP12 is a mobile lifting platform that takes an operator safely to five metres working height with a maximum load of 120kg. It is built in aluminium to keep the weight down, has four steering wheels with a central locking system and two stabilisers, and carries four ballast weights that lower the centre of gravity in use — with a fast-disconnect system so they can be removed to reduce weight during transport. A spirit level shows the operator that the platform is correctly positioned before elevation.

Manufacturer Assurance

Lifter by Pramac is backed by over 40 years of material handling equipment manufacture. All Lifter by Pramac products are designed to meet 100% compliance with current standard regulations, and are subject to internal quality testing for reliability and durability.

The step contains the gel battery, on-board charger, main switch, emergency button and a platform lowering button in heavy-duty corrugated aluminium.

Key Features

  • 5 metre working height — reaches high-level racking, lighting, signage and building services that a stepladder cannot safely.
  • Aluminium construction — light enough to be moved by one person between areas, unlike a steel platform of equivalent height.
  • Four steering wheels with central locking — positions precisely and then locks as a unit rather than wheel by wheel.
  • Fast-disconnect ballast — four weights lower the centre of gravity in use and come off quickly to reduce transport weight.
  • On-board charger — plugs into a standard socket, so no separate charging equipment to buy or site.
  • Spirit level for positioning — shows the operator the platform is correctly set before elevating, which is a simple safeguard against the most common cause of instability.

Suitable Applications

The LP12 is bought for high-level work in buildings: stock picking from upper racking levels, lighting and lamp replacement, signage and display, cleaning, and building maintenance in warehouses, retail, schools, hospitals and offices. It is the alternative to a stepladder or tower for regular work above three metres, and its aluminium construction means it can be moved between floors and buildings. It is not designed for outdoor or uneven ground.

How to Use

  1. Inspect the platform, stabilisers, ballast and wheels before use.
  2. Position on firm level ground, apply the central wheel lock and deploy both stabilisers.
  3. Check the spirit level confirms correct positioning before elevating.
  4. Confirm the total load including the operator and tools is within 120kg.
  5. Elevate using the controls, checking overhead clearance for services and structure.
  6. Lower fully before releasing the stabilisers or moving the platform.

Warning: Never move the platform while elevated, and never elevate without the stabilisers deployed and the spirit level confirming correct positioning. The 120kg capacity includes the operator, tools and materials.

Safety Information

  • Only trained and authorised operators should use a lifting platform.
  • Never exceed 120kg total, including the operator, tools and materials.
  • Deploy both stabilisers and lock the wheels before elevating.
  • Never climb on the guardrails or use steps inside the platform to gain height.
  • Check overhead for services, structure and lighting before elevating.
  • Lower fully before moving, and never move the platform with anyone on it.

Inspection and Maintenance

This is work at height equipment and falls under LOLER and the Work at Height Regulations as well as PUWER. It requires thorough examination at least every six months by a competent person, and records must be kept. Carry out a pre-use check each time covering the platform, guardrails, stabilisers, ballast, wheels, controls and emergency lowering. Withdraw from service immediately on any doubt.

What's Included

  • LP12 lifting platform with aluminium mast and platform
  • Four ballast weights with fast-disconnect system
  • Two stabilisers
  • Gel battery and on-board charger
  • Operator manual and thorough examination documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does it need LOLER inspection?

Yes. As equipment lifting a person it requires thorough examination at least every six months by a competent person, and the records must be kept.

Q: Is the 120kg the operator or the total?

Total. Operator, tools and materials together must not exceed 120kg, which in practice means one person and a modest amount of kit.

Q: Can it be used outdoors?

It is designed for firm, level indoor floors. Uneven ground, gradients and wind make a platform of this type unsafe.

Q: How is it moved between sites?

The four ballast weights have a fast-disconnect system specifically to reduce weight for transport, and the aluminium construction keeps the base weight low.
