Yale MTRAC Endless Winch Radio Remote Control

Mtrac OEM Accessory | Wireless Radio Pendant | Direct-Fit on All YMT Models | Article No. 192038496 | CE & UKCA Marked | Made in Germany

This wireless radio remote control for the Yale Mtrac endless wire rope winch range replaces or supplements the standard wired pendant, letting the operator position themselves clear of the lift area while controlling the winch. It is a direct-fit accessory across all six YMT models (YMT 0.66-30 through to YMT 5-5). Specify it where the operator needs visibility of the load beyond the wired pendant's reach โ€” tall-building faรงade lifts controlled from the ground, theatre fly operations where sightlines matter, or sites with overhead obstacles that would tangle a cable.

Key Features

  • Wireless lift / lower control: Operator can position themselves anywhere within radio range of the winch โ€” useful for sites where the standard pendant cable is too short or would tangle with obstacles.
  • Direct-fit on all YMT models: Compatible across the entire Mtrac range โ€” one accessory SKU covers any installed Mtrac winch.
  • Plug-and-play installation: Connects to the existing pendant socket on the winch โ€” no rewiring or electrical modification required.
  • Improves operator safety: Allows the operator to stand clear of the lift area, with clear visibility of both load and lift path.
  • Yale OEM accessory: Preserves the parent winch's CE / UKCA conformity. Third-party radio retrofits do not.

Technical Specifications

Article No. Description Compatible Models Type
192038496 MTRAC Endless Winch Radio Remote Control All YMT models (YMT 0.66-30, 1-15, 2-10, 3-5, 3-10, 5-5) Wireless pendant accessory

Supplied as a complete transmitter / receiver kit with the Mtrac-specific connector to interface with the existing pendant socket on the winch. Full operating frequency, range, battery, and IP rating data is published in the OEM accessory datasheet โ€” refer to the Yale Mtrac documentation for the specific revision shipped.

More About This Product

Wireless radio remote control for the Yale Mtrac endless wire rope winch range. Replaces or supplements the standard wired pendant supplied with each unit, allowing the operator to position themselves clear of the lift area while controlling the winch. The radio control is a direct-fit accessory across all six YMT models (YMT 0.66-30 through to YMT 5-5) and is specified where the operator needs visibility of the load from a position the wired pendant cable cannot reach โ€” typical applications include tall-building faรงade lifts where the operator stands on the ground, theatre fly operations where sightlines matter, and any site with overhead obstacles that would tangle a wired pendant.

Suitable Applications

The MTRAC Radio Remote Control is specified wherever the standard wired pendant becomes limiting. Typical applications include tall-building faรงade lifts where the operator stands on the ground and the winch is on the roof or scaffold, theatre and event production rigging where the operator needs clear sightlines to the load and the venue's stage layout, multi-storey construction site material lifting where the operator works on a different level to the winch, telecom mast lifting where the operator stands clear of the mast base, and any site where a wired pendant would tangle with obstacles, structural features, or the load path itself. The radio remote is also useful as a backup control where the wired pendant has failed and needs replacement.

How to Install and Use

  1. Verify compatibility: Confirm the Mtrac unit is one of the six YMT models โ€” the radio remote is direct-fit on all of them.
  2. Power off the winch: Disconnect the Mtrac from the 230 V mains supply before fitting the radio receiver.
  3. Disconnect the wired pendant: Unplug the existing wired pendant cable from the pendant socket on the winch.
  4. Connect the radio receiver: Plug the radio receiver module into the Mtrac's pendant socket using the supplied connector.
  5. Power on: Reconnect the winch to the mains supply.
  6. Pair the transmitter: Follow the OEM accessory manual to pair the handheld transmitter with the receiver (typically a button-hold sequence).
  7. Test under no-load: Operate the lift and lower buttons on the transmitter, verifying the winch responds within the published radio range.
  8. Conduct a load test: A LOLER inspection should be carried out following control system changes before returning to full-load duty.

Warning:
Radio remote control of a lifting winch must be used with clear sightlines to the load. Never operate the winch from a position where the load or lift path is not visible. Verify the transmitter battery is charged before each shift โ€” battery failure mid-lift may delay emergency stop response.

Safety Information

  • Operate the winch only with clear sightlines to the load and lift path.
  • Verify the transmitter battery state before each shift; carry a spare battery on extended-duration sites.
  • Keep the transmitter within radio range โ€” out-of-range loss of control causes the winch to stop, which may interrupt a lift partway through.
  • Do not operate the winch from inside a vehicle, equipment cabin, or other location where the load is not visible.
  • Use only the OEM Yale radio control โ€” third-party radio retrofits void the parent winch's CE / UKCA conformity.
  • Workplace operators must establish a Thorough Examination regime under LOLER 1998 / PUWER 1998 at intervals not exceeding 12 months.

Service and Support

The radio remote is a single-unit accessory โ€” when the transmitter or receiver fails, the complete kit is replaced rather than repaired in the field. Common failure modes are battery failure (typically resolved by recharging or battery replacement), water ingress on receiver units installed in exposed locations (use the OEM protective cover), and connector wear at the receiver-to-winch interface (replace the connector cable as a service item). WOLFF Onsite holds stock of MTRAC radio remotes alongside the broader Yale lifting spares range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does this work on all Mtrac models?

Yes โ€” one OEM SKU (192038496) covers all six YMT models (YMT 0.66-30, 1-15, 2-10, 3-5, 3-10, and 5-5). The pendant socket interface is standard across the Mtrac range.

Q: Can I use a generic radio remote instead?

We do not recommend it. The Yale OEM radio remote is engineered to interface cleanly with the Mtrac's pendant socket and is CE / UKCA certified as part of the parent winch system. Third-party radio retrofits void the winch's certification and may not provide reliable emergency stop function.

Q: Can I use the wired pendant and radio remote at the same time?

No โ€” the Mtrac has a single pendant socket, so only one control device is connected at any given time. Switch between the two as needed. The radio remote is normally specified to replace the wired pendant on installations where the wired option is impractical.

Q: What's the radio range?

The exact range is published in the OEM accessory datasheet and varies by environment โ€” typical open-air range is sufficient for ground-to-roof-level lifts on most building faรงades. Steel structures, reinforced concrete, and dense ironwork reduce effective range. Refer to the OEM documentation for the specific revision shipped.

Q: Does the radio remote need LOLER inspection?

The radio remote itself is not a lifting device, but it forms part of the winch's control system, and changes to that system fall within the scope of LOLER Thorough Examination. Following installation, a LOLER inspection should verify safe operation of the winch with the new control device fitted.
