Yale UNOplus-A ATEX Ratchet Lever Hoist

Model UNOplus-A | Ratchet Lever Hoist | Basic / Mining ATEX | 750โ€“6000 kg | 1.5 m Lift

The Yale UNOplus-A ATEX is the further-developed Series A ratchet lever hoist, certified to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU under Basic and Basic Mining classifications. The versatile tool for lifting, pulling and securing loads delivers compact, robust performance from 750 kg to 6000 kg with a 1.5 m standard lift. Optimised gearing and improved bearings reduce operator effort, while the standard free-chaining device allows fast load attachment and chain pull-through in both directions.

Key Features

  • ATEX Basic and Mining certified โ€” Suitable for surface Zone 1/21 and underground mining environments.
  • Optimised low-effort operation โ€” Improved gearing and bearings โ€” minimum lever pull from 22 daN at 750 kg.
  • Free-chaining device โ€” Standard feature for fast load attachment and chain pull-through in both directions.
  • Compact, robust stamped steel construction โ€” Reduced weight optimises portability and operator comfort.
  • Automatic screw-and-disc load brake โ€” Corrosion-protected components for long service life.
  • Robust chain guide rollers โ€” Eliminate fouling and jamming of chain on the load sheave.
  • Short hand lever โ€” Compact design for use in restricted access locations.

ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU | Basic / Mining Classification

Certified to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU under combined Basic / Mining classification. Suitable for surface Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous locations and for underground mining applications. Supplied with EC Declaration of Conformity and CE marking.

Suitable Applications

Maintenance lifting, securing of loads, pulling and tensioning operations in chemical, offshore, refinery and underground mining environments. Particularly suited to confined-space and remote-location work where a hand-portable lifting device is required in a hazardous area.

How to Use the UNOplus-A ATEX

  1. Inspect the hoist before each use โ€” check the chain, hooks, safety latches and the ratchet lever.
  2. Confirm the rated capacity on the hoist body exceeds the load weight.
  3. Attach the top hook to a verified anchor point above the load.
  4. Engage the free-chaining device and pull the chain through to position the bottom hook.
  5. Disengage the free-chaining device and attach the bottom hook to the load.
  6. Operate the hand lever in short, smooth strokes to lift, lower or tension the load.

Warning:
Confirm the ATEX zone classification of the work area matches the hoist certification before use. Do not extend the hand lever or fit a cheater bar โ€” the rated pull force is calculated for the supplied lever length only.

Safety Information

  • Confirm the ATEX zone classification of the work area matches the equipment certification before use.
  • Never exceed the rated working load limit displayed on the equipment.
  • Never use equipment that shows visible damage, wear or deformation.
  • Keep all personnel clear of the lifted load at all times.
  • Do not modify, repair or substitute components other than as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure the operator is trained, competent and authorised for ATEX lifting operations.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect before each use โ€” focus on all load-bearing components, welds, hooks, safety latches, chain, rope and pendant controls. Thorough examination under LOLER 1998 is required at intervals not exceeding 6 months by a competent person. Replacement parts must be genuine manufacturer items to maintain certification. Records of all inspections must be retained for the life of the equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between Basic and Basic Mining ATEX classification?

Basic ATEX covers surface explosive atmospheres in Zone 1 and Zone 21. Mining classification additionally certifies the equipment for use in underground mining environments under the more stringent Equipment Group I requirements. The UNOplus-A ATEX is dual-certified to cover both applications.

Q: Can I extend the hand lever to lift heavier loads?

No. The rated pull force is calculated based on the supplied lever length. Fitting a cheater bar or extending the lever can overload the hoist's internal components and is strictly prohibited.

Q: What is the standard lift height?

1.5 m as standard on all four variants. Longer lifts are available on request.
