Yale Webbing Block Mini Retractor CMHAH210 2.25m

Model CMHAH210 | Mini Retractor | 2.25m Webbing | 45mm Webbing Width | 120kg WLL | EN 360 Compliant

The Yale CMHAH210 Mini Retractor is a compact, lightweight self-retracting fall arrester for situations where larger cable blocks are impractical โ€” carried on the harness as a personal fall arrester, or wherever a low-profile unit is preferred. The 45 mm wide webbing offers good abrasion resistance for the working environment while the compact housing minimises bulk and weight. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale brand, supplied with test certificate and operating manual.

Key Features

  • Compact and lightweight โ€” minimal bulk compared to cable blocks, suitable for personal carry on the harness
  • 45 mm wide webbing โ€” good abrasion resistance for site use
  • Self-retracting โ€” automatically maintains a taut connection between the user and the anchor
  • Speed-sensitive brake โ€” locks within centimetres in a fall event
  • EN 360 compliant โ€” rated to BS EN 360 for self-retracting fall arresters
  • 120 kg user weight rating โ€” suitable for a wide range of users including PPE and tools
  • Twin retractor configuration possible โ€” two mini retractors can be used to provide continuous connection during climbing

Work at Height Regulations 2005 require thorough examinations every 6 months by a competent person, with records kept.

More About This Product

The Yale CMHAH210 Mini Retractor is a compact, lightweight self-retracting fall arrester ideal for situations where the larger cable blocks are impractical โ€” for example as a personal fall arrester carried on the harness or for use in environments where a low-profile fall arrester is preferred. The 45 mm wide webbing offers good abrasion resistance for the working environment while the compact housing minimises bulk and weight. Manufactured by Columbus McKinnon under the Yale lifting brand, supplied with a manufacturer's test certificate and operating manual.

Suitable Applications

Suited to general construction site fall arrest where a compact, personal fall arrester is preferred over a larger cable block. Particularly useful for ladder access, scaffold inspection, building maintenance, and any application where the user moves between positions and a personal retractor reduces fall distance compared to a fixed-length lanyard. Two mini retractors can be carried on the harness to provide continuous connection during climbing (twin retractor configuration).

How to Use the Mini Retractor

  1. Inspect the housing, webbing, swivel hook, anchor connector, and any load indicator before each use.
  2. Function-test by extending the webbing approximately 1 m and allowing it to retract.
  3. Function-test the brake by sharply tugging the webbing โ€” the brake must lock immediately.
  4. Attach the retractor to a certified overhead anchor rated to a minimum of 12 kN.
  5. Attach the swivel snap hook to the harness rear D-ring. Verify the gate is fully closed and locked.
  6. Verify fall clearance below the working position โ€” typically 2 m to 3 m.
  7. Proceed with the working task โ€” the retractor automatically maintains a taut connection.
  8. On completion, allow the webbing to retract fully and disconnect.

Warning:
After any fall arrest the retractor must be withdrawn from service immediately and returned for competent person inspection. The retractor must be anchored overhead โ€” not below the user. The 120 kg user weight rating must not be exceeded.

Safety Information

  • Carry out a pre-use visual and function test before every use โ€” extend the lanyard fully, verify retraction, and check the brake by sharply tugging the line.
  • Always attach the block to a certified overhead anchor rated to a minimum of 12 kN.
  • Always check the housing, lanyard, swivel hook, and anchor connector before each use.
  • Always position the anchor directly above the user where possible to prevent pendulum swing in the event of a fall.
  • Never use a block that has arrested a fall โ€” withdraw from service immediately and return for competent person inspection.
  • Never modify or attempt to repair the block; only authorised service centres can service these units.
  • Withdraw from service if any damage to the housing, lanyard, hooks, or load indicator is found.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect the block before each use, paying particular attention to the housing for cracks or impact damage, the lanyard for cuts, fraying, or chemical damage, the load indicator (where fitted) for any sign of deployment, and both connectors for distortion or damage. Function-test by extending the lanyard fully and allowing it to retract under tension โ€” the retraction should be smooth and complete. Test the brake by sharply tugging the line โ€” the brake must lock immediately. Store hanging by the anchor hook in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight, sharp objects, and chemicals. Do not store the block with the lanyard extended. Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and PPE Regulations, a thorough examination must be carried out by a competent person at least every 6 months. Manufacturer-recommended internal service interval is typically every 2 years โ€” refer to the operating manual for the specific service requirements of your model.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the mini retractor compare to a cable block?

The mini retractor is compact, lightweight, and uses webbing rather than steel cable. It's preferred where bulk and weight matter โ€” for example carried on the harness as a personal fall arrester. Cable blocks offer longer cable lengths and better suit fixed-anchor installations.

Q: Can I use two mini retractors at once?

Yes โ€” a twin retractor configuration uses two mini retractors with their housings mounted on the harness shoulder straps and their webbing ends connected to the anchor structure. This provides continuous connection during climbing, similar to a twin tail lanyard but with retracting webbing.

Q: What is the user weight limit?

120 kg including PPE, tools, and any other equipment carried. Verify total user weight does not exceed this limit.

Q: How much fall clearance do I need?

Typically 2 m to 3 m below the working position. Always refer to the operating manual for the specific fall clearance.

Q: Can the retractor be used outdoors?

Yes. The webbing is UV-stable for outdoor use. Air-dry after any wet use; do not store wet in a sealed bag.

Q: How often must the retractor be serviced?

Pre-use inspection, thorough examination by a competent person every 6 months, manufacturer-recommended internal service typically every 2 years.

Q: Is the webbing replaceable?

Webbing replacement is a service operation requiring an authorised service centre. Do not attempt field replacement.
