The Invicta Fork Mounted Access Platform (Model IAP) provides a safe working environment for maintenance, inspections and other tasks at height, manufactured in full accordance with HSE document PM28 4th Edition. Three configurations are available — the IAP-6 with lift-up bar access, and the IAP-7 and IAP-8 with automatic locking side gates — each accommodating up to two persons with a 250kg safe working load, with the IAP-8 offering an extended 1250 x 950mm base. All models feature a self-draining non-slip floor, safety harness attachment rings and a hinge-back guard for compact storage; manufactured in Leeds by Invicta Forks & Attachments.

Key Features

  • HSE PM28 4th Edition compliant — manufactured to the latest Health and Safety Executive guidance for working platforms on forklift trucks
  • Automatic locking gates — IAP-7 and IAP-8 models feature gates that lock automatically when raised and unlock on contact with level ground
  • Safety harness attachment rings — integrated anchor points for personal fall protection equipment
  • Self-draining non-slip floor — textured floor surface prevents slipping in wet conditions and drains water naturally
  • Fold-down back guard — hinges flat for compact storage and transportation between sites

More About This Product

The Invicta Fork Mounted Access Platform (Model IAP) provides a safe working environment for maintenance, inspections and other tasks at height, manufactured in full accordance with HSE document PM28 4th Edition. Available in three configurations — the IAP-6 with lift-up bar access, and the IAP-7 and IAP-8 with automatic locking and unlocking side gates — the platform accommodates up to two persons with a 250kg safe working load. The larger IAP-8 offers an extended 1250 x 950mm base for additional working space. All models feature a self-draining non-slip floor, safety harness attachment rings and a hinge-back guard for compact transportation and storage. Manufactured in Leeds by Invicta Forks & Attachments.

Suitable Applications

Access platforms are essential for maintenance and inspection tasks at height across construction sites, warehouses, factories and industrial facilities. Common uses include HVAC maintenance, lighting replacement, sprinkler system inspections, overhead crane servicing, high-level stock picking, building fabric repairs and any task requiring safe elevated access where scaffolding is impractical.
A platform lifts people, which carries requirements no other attachment does — a MEWP or tower is the preferred option wherever practicable. For crane-suspended work see access cages and man baskets.

How to Use the Fork Mounted Access Platform

  1. Position the product on level ground. Two people are recommended for initial assembly.
  2. Lift the back guard into an upright position and fix with the 4 M12 bolts supplied.
  3. Position the forks to the correct distance apart to locate into fork pockets.
  4. Remove fork pocket heel pins and drive forks into fork pockets.
  5. Insert fork pocket heel pins directly behind the heel of the fork and attach safety lynch pin.
  6. Models with gates automatically lock once raised and unlock when placed on level ground.
  7. Personnel should attach safety harness to the harness loop provided before the platform is elevated.

Warning:
The fork truck handbrake must be applied at all times when the platform is elevated or in use. The driver must remain seated and in control at all times. The platform must not be repositioned whilst in the elevated position. Operation is covered by HSE guidance note PM28 4th Edition.

Safety Information

  • Ensure the fork truck handbrake is applied when elevating, lowering and using the platform.
  • Keep the forklift mast in the vertical position at all times.
  • Do not exceed the maximum platform load of 250kg.
  • The fork truck driver must remain seated and in control at all times.
  • Maintain a slow, uniform pace when moving at ground level.
  • It is recommended that a safety harness is worn at all times when on the platform.
  • The platform must not be repositioned whilst in the elevated position.
  • Keep hands and fingers clear of all moving parts.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect weekly with particular attention to all weld points, fork pockets, heel pin attachments, locks and latches. Keep all hinges, latches and locks lightly greased. Certified for six months from manufacture — thorough examination under LOLER 1998 required every 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the access platform legal to use on a forklift?

Yes. The IAP is manufactured in accordance with HSE document PM28 4th Edition, which sets out the requirements for working platforms on forklift trucks. The platform must be used in accordance with the guidance and the operator must be trained.

Q: What is the difference between the IAP-6, IAP-7 and IAP-8?

The IAP-6 has a lift-up bar for access, whilst the IAP-7 and IAP-8 have automatic locking side gates. The IAP-8 is a larger platform (1250 x 950mm) compared to the 950 x 950mm of the IAP-6 and IAP-7.

Q: Do I need a safety harness?

A safety harness is strongly recommended and is available as an optional extra. Harness attachment rings are built into the platform as standard.
