Eichinger Drop Bottom Skip

Model 2032 | Spring-Secured Bottom Flap | Crane & Forklift Use | Stackable | CE Marked | UKCA Compliant

The Eichinger Drop Bottom Skip (Model 2032) is a German-built heavy-duty waste skip that discharges bulk materials through a full-area spring-secured bottom flap โ€” contents empty completely without snagging, including bulky or awkward materials that would jam conventional tipping skips. The flap is operated via a rope pull from the driver's seat and locks again automatically when the skip is set down, ready for immediate reloading. Constructed from 4 mm steel walls with massive welded support brackets for both crane and forklift use, in 500-litre and 1,000-litre capacities.

Key Features

  • Full-area spring-secured bottom flap โ€” the entire floor opens for complete discharge with no snagging, even with bulky or awkward waste
  • Rope pull operation from driver's seat โ€” the bottom flap is released via a rope pull, keeping the operator safely in the cab throughout the discharge process
  • Automatic re-locking on ground contact โ€” the flap mechanism locks again automatically when the skip is set down on the ground, ready for immediate reloading
  • Dual crane and forklift use โ€” massive welded support brackets with lifting eyes for crane use and fork pockets for forklift or telehandler handling
  • Restraint chain โ€” supplied as standard to secure the skip to the forks during transport, preventing movement or slippage
  • Stackable with welded position corners โ€” multiple units stack securely on top of each other for compact storage on site or during transport
  • 4 mm straight steel wall construction โ€” heavier-gauge steel than standard tipping skips, with all-round edge reinforcement for maximum durability
  • Two capacity options โ€” available in 500L and 1,000L to suit different site waste volumes
  • German-engineered construction โ€” manufactured by Florian Eichinger GmbH in Mรผhlhausen, Germany, producing construction equipment since 1904

More About This Product

The Eichinger Drop Bottom Skip (Model 2032) is a heavy-duty waste skip engineered for fast, efficient discharge of bulk materials through a full-area spring-secured bottom flap. Built in Germany by Florian Eichinger GmbH, the 2032 is designed for the quick, easy movement and disposal of waste on construction sites, farms and industrial facilities. The entire floor area opens via a robust spring-secured flap, ensuring contents are discharged completely without snagging โ€” making it one of the most efficient methods of waste disposal for bulky or awkward materials that would jam in conventional tipping skips. The flap is operated via a rope pull from the driver's seat and locks again automatically when the skip is set down on the ground, ready for immediate reloading without anyone leaving the cab. Constructed from 4 mm straight steel walls with all-round edge reinforcement, the 2032 features massive welded support brackets that enable both crane and forklift use. A restraint chain secures the skip to the forks during transport, while welded position corners allow multiple units to be stacked safely. Available in 500-litre and 1,000-litre capacities.

Suitable Applications

The 2032 Drop Bottom Skip is designed for any application where waste needs to be collected, transported and discharged quickly and completely using a crane or forklift. It is particularly effective for bulky or awkward waste that would snag or jam in a conventional tipping skip, as the full floor opening ensures nothing is left behind. The 2032 is commonly used for muck-away operations on construction and demolition sites, scrap metal and industrial waste disposal in factories, farmyard waste collection, recycling centre material sorting, and general debris handling on residential and commercial builds. The bottom-opening design is also favoured for discharging into skips, waste containers and lorries where overhead clearance is limited.

How to Use the Drop Bottom Skip

  1. Place the skip on a flat, level surface before filling. Do not exceed the rated Safe Working Load (SWL) shown on the type plate.
  2. Fill the skip evenly, ensuring the load is distributed across the base and does not exceed the height of the sides.
  3. For crane lifting, attach a suitably rated 4-leg chain sling to the lifting eyes. Ensure all hooks are fully closed and secure before lifting.
  4. For forklift transport, insert forks into the fork pockets and attach the restraint chain to secure the skip to the forks.
  5. Raise the skip slowly off the ground and check for balance and load security before proceeding.
  6. Move the load to the discharge area, ensuring no personnel are in the discharge zone below.
  7. To discharge, land the skip in the discharge zone and pull the rope to release the bottom flap.
  8. Slowly raise the skip while ensuring the drop-down door maintains contact with the ground to minimise any sudden movement of the load.
  9. Lower the skip back to the ground. The flap mechanism will lock again automatically on ground contact, ready for immediate reloading.
  10. After use, check the spring mechanism and flap for damage or residual material that may prevent proper locking.

Warning:
Never stand directly below the skip during discharge operations. Ensure the discharge area is clear of all personnel before pulling the rope.

Certification and Compliance

This product is CE marked and supplied with a full EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. A UKCA certificate is also provided where required for the Great Britain market. Following Brexit, the UK government has confirmed indefinite recognition of CE marking for lifting equipment in Great Britain, meaning businesses can use either UKCA or CE marked accessories provided the equipment is accompanied by a Declaration of Conformity (DoC). The skip is manufactured under a DIN ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system, and independently tested by TรœV Nord for product and workplace safety (GS โ€” Tested Safety mark). It is built in accordance with the occupational health and safety regulations of the German Berufsgenossenschaften (BG). All lifting equipment used on UK construction sites must comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

Safety Information

  • Never exceed the rated Safe Working Load (SWL) as shown on the type plate for each model.
  • Never stand directly below the skip during discharge operations. Ensure the discharge zone is clear of all personnel.
  • Always check that the bottom flap is fully locked before filling or lifting the skip.
  • When using with a forklift, always attach the restraint chain to secure the skip to the forks before transport.
  • Do not pull the discharge rope while the skip is suspended above ground level unless discharging.
  • Check the spring mechanism and flap locking system for wear or damage before each use.
  • A risk assessment must be carried out prior to moving or using this equipment.
  • Operation only by persons who are familiar with the equipment and have read the operating instructions.
  • Ensure the area of use is clear of overhead cables, power lines, or similar hazards that may affect safe use.
  • Required PPE: hard hat, safety boots, gloves, and hi-vis vest.
  • The type plate must remain present and legible at all times. If defects are found, the equipment must not be used until rectified.

Inspection and Maintenance

The drop bottom skip must be inspected before each use and undergo a thorough examination at least every 12 months by a competent person in accordance with LOLER 1998. All inspections must be documented and any defects rectified immediately before the equipment is returned to service. Regular cleaning after each use will extend the working life of the skip โ€” pay particular attention to the bottom flap mechanism, spring system, rope pull, lifting eyes, fork pockets and restraint chain. Check the flap hinges and locking mechanism for wear, corrosion or deformation. Ensure the automatic re-locking function operates correctly before returning the skip to service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Eichinger 2032 Drop Bottom Skip used for?

The 2032 is designed for collecting, transporting and discharging bulk waste quickly and completely through a full-area bottom opening. It is ideal for bulky or awkward waste that would snag in a conventional tipping skip, and is widely used on construction sites, demolition projects, farms and industrial facilities.

Q: What sizes are available?

The 2032 is available in two capacities: 500 litres (model 2032.8, SWL 1,000 kg) and 1,000 litres (model 2032.10, SWL 2,000 kg).

Q: How does the drop bottom mechanism work?

The entire floor of the skip opens via a spring-secured bottom flap, releasing all contents from beneath. The flap is released by pulling a rope from the driver's seat. When the skip is set back down on the ground, the flap locks again automatically โ€” no manual reset is required. This allows a continuous load-dump-reload cycle without anyone leaving the cab.

Q: Why choose a drop bottom skip over a tipping skip?

The full floor opening ensures complete discharge with no snagging, making it better suited to bulky, irregular or mixed waste that can jam in conventional tipping skips. It is also effective where overhead clearance is limited, as the skip does not need to tip through a wide arc โ€” the contents simply drop from the base.

Q: Can the 2032 be used with a crane and a forklift?

Yes, the 2032 features both lifting eyes for 4-leg crane sling attachment and fork pockets for forklift or telehandler use. A restraint chain is supplied as standard for securing the skip to the forks during transport.

Q: Can the skips be stacked?

Yes, the 2032 features welded position corners that allow multiple units to be stacked securely on top of each other for compact storage on site or during transport.

Q: Is the 2032 CE marked and UKCA compliant?

Yes, the 2032 carries CE marking in accordance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and a UKCA certificate is provided where required for the UK market. It is manufactured under DIN ISO 9001:2015 quality management, independently tested by TรœV Nord, and built to the safety standards of the German Berufsgenossenschaften (BG). An EC Declaration of Conformity is supplied with every unit.

Q: Who manufactures the 2032?

The 2032 is manufactured by Florian Eichinger GmbH in Mรผhlhausen, Bavaria, Germany. Eichinger has been producing construction and lifting equipment since 1904 and is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of crane and forklift attachments. All products are manufactured in-house at their German facility โ€” they do not outsource fabrication.
